I pulled out the grill accessory and simply plugged in the gas one! Actually, my wife did it.
Not much story. All I had to do was unplug the grill burner and plug in the gas burner and place the grate and it worked. No tools or wire connections but I had wanted to get this for a couple years.
Did nothing but pull grill cartridge out and plug burner cartridge in. Took less than 30 seconds. No tools, no wires. Easy, easy, easy.
opened the box and popper it in
Open box (that was the most difficult part) Remove sealed burner unit and grates. Remove grate and grill burner from stove. Install new sealed burner unit and grates. Total elapsed time 7 min.
Having read some of the on-line reviews previous to placing the order, I was prepared for the possibility that a hole would have to be drilled so the burner unit would fit over a protruding screw/peg required by the grill. This was easily accomplished and it all worked immediately.
I lifted out the grill grates, then the grill. I slipped the burner unit in and put in the grates. Total elapsed time: about 45 seconds.
Per instructions that came with the stove (none came with the parts) I just lifted the back of the grill unit and slid toward back of stove. To install burners, reverse order. 2 minutes max. No fiddling with gas connectors. Wife was elated.
removed grill grates, lift back end of grill about 1/2 inch and slide the whole mechanism to the rear, removal is complete, line up new insert with porcelain receptors near front of range, mark spot where small metal protrusion on range prevents insert from sliding in completely, drill hole in insert at place marked slightly larger than diameter of protrusion, insert the new burner assembly (insert) by sliding metal prongs into porcelain receptors, making sure gas openings are lined up with gas nozzles under porcelain receptors, lay grate on top, doneEasy but no mention was made of needing to drill as no instruction came with it. It took me 10 minutes to make sure I wasn't going to damage the new insert by drilling into it, but I could tell there was a large void behind the factory dimple that lined up with the metal protrusion on the range. It works fine, the downdraft does not automatically turn on any more. Its nice to have 4 burners.
Ordered new sealed double burner unit and plugged it in. Done. Couldn't have been easier.
I can't imagine the job being easier! Less then a minute, out with the old grill and in with the new burners
Your site was great, I had actually called the local distributor and they could not identify which part I really needed. I keyed in my model number and quickly found the part I was looking for. Amazingly it was at my home the next morning and I was cooking dinner on it that day. I'll always try you guys first anytime.
Replaced unit - local repair was quoting out the part $100 or more above price found here. Took no tools and about 3 minutes to fix.
Simply unplug then plug in new one. Couldn't be easier! Love those modular Jenn Air units.
