Ice Maker

Researched your web site - determined best bet was to replace the ice maker unit. Ordered the new ice maker and believe it it or not it was here in 3 days and installed EXACTLY as it was stated. Frankly it was a snap and was easier than ever expected. Thanks

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the electric plug.
Then I removed the old unit & replaced it with the new, reverseing the proceedure.

Very easy to replace. The hardest part was the removal of the power cable connector. Had to use a screwdriver to pry the connector from the unit;.
Took less than 10 min. to complete the repair.
Had ice cubes in less than 2 hrs.

Turned freez control off. unscrewed singl sheet metal screw, lift off unit, from 2 remain. screws, unplugged
elect connect. Pulled off sm water tube Rmd elect cable unit from old unit, installed on new unit.
Reinstalled elect connect, installed water tube,
Rehung unit on 2 sheet metal screws. Replaced the ice rail[with old one]Turned on freezr control. Had
cubes in 1hr, 4 min... Oh yes, took off old end

It's rather easy and straight foward
(I've done about 3 of them over the years)
take out the ice tray and if you can the top rack (depending on the model of your freezer) for more elbow room. unscrew the bottom screw under- neath the ice maker, then the two top ones, this makes it easier to remove the electrical connector.
take off the old plastic housing(snaps off) put it on new one, take the old wire harness off old, put on the new one, and last take the old wire that turns on the ice maker and shuts it off when full! that pulls out and snaps in the new one, and just reverse the install process!

First I unplugged wiring harness from the inside of the freezer. Then removed two small bolts on top side and one on the bottom. Then took it out of the freezer. Then unplugged the wiring harness from the ice maker. Then plugged it into the new ice maker. Then reinstalled it back into the freezer with the three bolts.Then plugged it back in.

It absolutely took less than 15 min to remove the old ice maker and replace it with the new one----and it works. You helped me save close to $200.00. Thank you!!!

It was easy and my daughter did most of the work while I assisted.
Removed contents from freezer, unplugged refrigerator, shut off water to ice maker. Used hairdryer to thaw inside, placed ice catcher in sink to thaw. Removed defective ice maker and transferred trip lever and wire bundle to new unit. Installed new unit, bent mounting bracket located on bottom of new unit so that when installed the ice maker is horozontally level. Plugged refrig in and turned on water. Water does not come in right away as the temp probably has to be restored to freezing level before things start to work....so just let it run. In the morning lots of nice cubes and no leaks...hooray!

Replaced ice maker assembly, 5 screws out, unplug the wire, take some attachments off the old ice maker and put it on the new one, plug it in, 5 screws in...done. I did have to take a mirror to see how to unclip the wire, which turned out to be the hardest part of the whole job..

Disconnted current icemaker and removed from freezer. Took off front cover and long arm that control ice dispenser. Put cover and control arm on new icemaker, reconnected bundled wires into new icemaker and clipped along side of icemaker and remounted into freezer. Connnected into back panel for power and checked water supply line to make sure it was lined up properly and job was done. Made sure arm was in down position, had ice cubes in an approx 90 mins.

Flipped unit over to remove connecter
(This was the only difficult operation; unpluging & pluging it in)
New part fit was very good
Reversed the disassembly order to install
New assembly had to cycle a while to produce ice cubes. I'm very happy now, so bring on the hot weather.
