Ice Maker

First I removed the three screws that held the element in place. I had a problem disconnecting the plug from the ice maker, but using a small screw driver and pushing in the slot to release the plug finally worked. It took about ten minutes to get the plug out of the old ice maker.

One manufacturer error was, not making the electrical wires a little longer to access the ice maker plug better.

This is the second ice maker I have installed in the freezer since 2004 and it is rather easy once the plug was removed.

I then plugged in the new unit, reinstalled the three screws, pulled off the cover and arm from the old unit, and put them onto the new installed unit, and it was ready to work.

The kick plate grille took five minutes to install.

The door closure cam kit was installed in fifteen minutes.

Everything went in really easy, except for the plug disconnection from the old ice maker.

Great do it yourself job done!

This was a very easy fix. I took the old ice maker out, including the electrical harness. Switched the harness and stop bar to the new ice maker on my bench, then installed the new assembly. Ice initially had some hollow cubes. I checked the ice maker for level. But it was fine. Thought it might be moving too fast. But it seems to have cleared up. Perhaps it took some time to completely cool down.

replaced the water valve - just precautionary with unit age.
Problem was ice tray coating was breaking down causing ice to stick during harvest cycle - refill would cause water to overflow to bin.

Removed bottom screw, loosen 2 top screws, lift ice maker up and lay over to expose wiring harness, unplugged, then reversed installation
Make sure fill tube in back of ice machine is positioned in fill trough

Recommend that on any installation use a commercial grade water filter system and change filters annually, this is the first repair because of that- unit is 18 years old

remove 3 screws,rotate assembly,depress lock on wire harnass connector,un plug harnass.remove old assembly,remove and transfer side cover and steel wire at front of assembly,connect harnass to new assembly,rotate into place,aling screw holes and install 3 screws.flip front steel wire down and wait for about 1 hour,first tray of ice will fall..all done.

Removed the elec connection (after unplugging app) found it easier to remove from appliance. Remove the three screws ( do not temove,....just loosen, the top two) bottom must be removed! Insert the power connection, exchange the tilt up rod, line up the water connection and place back on the two top screws. Tighten and relpace the bottom screw. I found out the hard way.... you cant't see the two top screws . The slots on the ice maker just fit over the screw heads.... it's cold in there!!!

Removed one screw ,unpluged ice maker, and replced it with new one.

I performed basic troubleshooting to make sure there was power and water. Based on historical research on this particular ice maker, I decided that the best direction was to replace the entire assembly. I found this item on this site, ordered it and received it a few days later. I basically removed the ice pan and a few items in the freezer, removed the three mounting screws with either a flat blade screwdriver or nut driver, pulled the electrical harness out of the back wall of the freezer and transferred it to the new ice maker and then installed the new unit, really that simple. Iwas concerned at first, not seeing any activity in the new ice maker but after 15 minutes or so I heard ice falling into the ice bin. Well worth replacing seeing how simple this job was.

Barely a couple years old, was not getting any ice. I carefully selected the right part on this website and ordered. Around $150 and was easy install.

1. Mine was upper and lower freezer. you slide the freezer door out and lift it up, it will come right off.
2. pull out the tray above and ice bucket
3. Use a screwdriver to unscrew 2 screws above and one below the existing icemaker
4. unclip the power cable line

Thats it!

Point to note: the new piece you get will not have the power cable line, the water cover and the metal arm. I would think it should have for $150, but keep this as you will need a few little parts to complete the new part before installing it back.

VERY easy to do installation. Dont pay anyone to do this, it can be done easy!

Removed two screws on top. Then one under the ice maker ,held on to it while I unpluged the white flat plug. Then installed new one in reverse. Of course re-connect power wires on.
I turned power off at fuse box.
First batch of ice in an hour or so.

Unplug wire harness back of fridge. Unscrewed 4 screws on guide for ice bin. then unscrewed two screws holding ice maker to wall of fridge. removed ice maker. then had to take front cover off (pull hard, it comes off) and remove wire harness plug from the ice maker. save this, front cover, and all hardware to re-use. reverse steps to reinstall, including wire guide that goes up and down to stop and start ice maker when bin fills. Have to put this into front part of ice maker correctly for it to work. make sure it is down so that it will produce ice. ice tray took a few hours to fill with water initially, must be on a timer or something.

Saw many photos on the Internet that looked like my ice maker, but they were different. I put in my Refrigerator model No. and found my exact replacement ice maker right away. I was a little cautious, because the new one didn't include the wiring harness, or the plastic cover. I took the chance and ordered it. Super fast delivery, a Day or 2 at most. Everything went smoothly, and after the new one was in, I crossed my fingers until the timer kicked in, and I started hearing ice cubes falling in the tray about 3 hours later. Success! I had been having problems with the ice maker almost from the beginning. Hopefully, the replacement will last longer. I will say that this Maytag Fridge. is the absolute worst kitchen appliance I've ever owned in my 47 years of house keeping! The defroster went in the freezer a couple of months after the Warranty ended, and it cost me $375.00 to have a Tech, come in to repair. I got away easy this time, buying the ice maker for $135.00 and being able to do the work myself.

Removed old ice maker, had to use the wire shutoff from old ice maker installed new one. Very easy repair, very nice product cheapest price on internet.

Well folks I put up with an ice burg all summer when I really should have took the time to fix it. You know how it goes though. You get so busy you just put it off.
Well don't put this one off because this is just how easy it went.
I came home one evening and wanted to make a drink to relax but that big glob of ice was there waiting for me. I took a crewdriver and beat it down so I could pull the catch basin out. Having looked it over for a minute I grabed a nut driver and took three of the screws out that held it in. I unpluged the wire and bingo it was out. Maybe five min. had elasped.
After taking the unit out I notice how the non stick surface was coming off of the tray and that explains the black pieces that were getting into my ice.
Getting the model number off the back of the fridge and writing it down I went to my trusty lap top and did a quick search for a ice maker for my Jenn Air refrigeraton and blamo...! Part Select came up and I put the part number in their search engine and bingo again there it was, my part.
One quick order and in three days it was right there by my door when I got home.
Now i'm so excited. I went into the house and didn't even chage out of my dress clothes. Within five minutes it was in. Now I just had to wait for the timer to do it's thing and sure enough, I awoke the next morning to a whole tray of beautiful ice cubes. Wow no more ice burgs.
The moral of my story is I spent so much time hacking out that glob of ice and for fifteen minutes of my time, I could have been siping on cold ones by the pool but now old man winter is pressing down on me and I guess a lesson learned was a lesson earned. Fix it!

I popped out the side panel to the right of the ice maker and removed the ice tray-then used a nutdrive to remove the screw under the ice maker. Lifted up on the unit , dropped it down and used a flat head screwdriver to press the tab in on the electrical connector at the rear-then removed the unit from the Freezer. The end cap that covers the controls on the old unit snapped off easily as did the small metal tab (both needed to be placed on the new one) and I re-installed the new ice maker doing the reverse of the removal. Watch to make sure that the white rubber water line goes back into place as you remount the ice maker in the Freezer.

As for the thermostat, I loosened the temperature control cover in the top of the refrigerator by pulling down on it, needed to pull out a bit to clear the control levers-easier if they're centered on the 5. I removed the retaining screw in the center of the rear of the cover using a nutdriver, and that lowered the cover enough to remove the screws that held the thermostat assembly in the upper right (also using the same nutdriver that worked on everything else). I removed the electrical connector from the old thermostat and attached it to the new one. The old thermostat didn't have a cover on it like the new one, and it was easier to make sure that the electrical connector was attached by popping the cover apart-attaching the connector, and then snapping it back together. The new unit snapped into place by pressing down firmly, then I re-assembled the cover plate doing the reverse of the removal.

If you don't count the two hours that I spent defrosting the freezer coils with a hair dryer-these were FAST repairs, and the refrigerator is running like new again
