Dishwasher door was slamming down, heavy to close

Unscrewed bottom panel. I could see right spring in proper position, left spring lying on floor, and broken linkage. Ordered part from partselect.com. To install, had to unscrew dishwasher attachment to counter, loosen leveling legs, pull it out a bit, then could replace linkage and reattach spring, retighten leveling legs, then push back in and replace screws and bottom panel.

Door heavy, would not spring up.Broken link.

Pulled D/W out about 1/4 of the way. Kept door latched at all times. Replaced plastic links with new ones. (one was broken but replace in pairs!). Attached springs. No tools required for this. Pushed D/W back in place and secured screws to top. Only tool used was a nut driver to remove the screws holding the D/W to the counter. Total time 7 minutes.

Our 14 year old maytag dishwasher needed new springs for the door

We hired a handyman, who recommended we go online to order the parts. They arrived
at my door in less that 24 hrs! Luckily, the handyman was back the next day as well, and
he installed the new springs and spring linkage.

Plastic door spring part broke

I went at it wrong to start. Then I figured out creating the proper angle that mirrored the normal operation was the trick. I tied a string on to the spring with the plastic part attached then the other end to a hook. I pulled the hook at the correct angle & the plastic part was lifted to its slot. Pushed it down into the slot & cut off the string.
Took about 2 minutes that way.

Door wouldn't open slowly

I pulled the unit out its bay and saw that one spring was missing. I looked up the parts online and ordered replacement springs and linkages. Using the existing spring and linkage as models, I easily installed the new parts. I ordered spare parts in case the other linkage broke.
