Downdraft motor bearings shot
I FIRST HAD TO PURCHASE THE REPLACEMENT MOTOR WHICH WAS QUOTED FROM A HIGH OF $236 TO A LOW AT GRAINGERS OF$100.00. tHE COUNTERMAN AT GRAINGERS REMOVED THE BLOWER FAN FROM THE MOTOR FOR ME WITH A SPECIAL LONG HANDLED ALLEN KEY. i THEN DEGREASED AND CLEANED THE BLOWER FAN. i HAD TO CUT OFF THE SCREWS ON THE MOTOR AND REPLACE THE 3 MOTOR ISOLATORS AND THE URETHANE FOAM AROUND THE MOTOR. I HAD TO THREAD THE 3 WIRES FROM THE NEW MOTOR THROUGH THE BX CABLE FROM THE OLD MOTOR AND REATTACH THE FAN TO THE MOTOR. Smell of a dead animal
The 15-year-old Jen-Air stove started smelling really bad. I thought it was a dead animal stuck in the exhaust tube which runs under the floor to the outside. I flushed it out with clorine bleach, but it was still bad. It turned out to the be the grease filter. I washed it every week in the diswasher, but it just was not enough to get it clean enough. Finally, the grease went rancid and smelled really bad. This "repair" took about 30 seconds.

Hmm, let's see, knob didn't match all my other new knobs
Oh this was a toughie and I was sweating it out.
With a delicate touch I removed the old knob and pushed on the new knob, 5 seconds

Change the oil/grease filter
It is so easy. Once I found the right size of filter from the website, I ordered it right away. It came in 3 days and I just need to take out the old one and insert the new one. No instruction is necessary. By the way, the price of the filter is one third of that from Jenn-air.

Replacement isn't an install. Just put the grills on top, and the filter inside. Perfect fit. The great thing is the price. I purchased these off brand parts for about one third the price if i had purchased through the manufacturer!!

Ordered a new filter for the exhaust fan
The filter came and it was bent out of shape on 2 sides. My husband carefully tried to bend it back into shape. It is very flimsy and is not made as well as the one that was being used that was probably several years old. I did not want the hassel of returning the filter and trying to get a new one sent.

Really old looking stove top
Although I am a surgeon, my past experiences trying to repair worn-out 25 year-old appliances have not gone well. Therefore, I approached this entire episode with great deal of doubt and apprehension. However, the knowledge and helpfulness of the sales representative from whom I telephone ordered the units, the very clear installation instructions which promptly arrived with the units, and the very well engineered units themselves made the installation a breeze, less than ten minutes. I wish all my surgeries were this easy.

Knobs sloppy and discolored and filter bent
This has been a wonderful cooktop and I could only hope todays quality is equally as good but after 25 yrs. I doubt it especially after looking at new dishwashers in the last couple of days. too sad. but these repairs were minor and no trouble. what amazed me most was ordering one afternoon and the parts were here the following day ! great service
