remove front part of the dryer and rise up the top to remove drum to replace the belt. than remove two screws for the heating element piece of cake repair.

My husband pulled drum out of dryer and replaced the idler pulley wheel and decided to replace the belt while he was in there. It's good to have a snap ring tool as it's a pain to replace the snap ring without this tool. Goes alot quicker!

The repair went very well. The parts were a perfect fit and arrived earlier than expected.It took a little longer than it should have to do the repair because of my recent surgery I had my 11 year old grandson operating the nut driver taking the dryer apart install the parts then reassemble under my watch full eye. You could say it went so easy a fifth grader could do it.

With your parts and the book from the library, it was a piece of cake.

I pried open the top of the dryer with a screwdriver. i took digital pictures (for reference)of 3 sets of wires needing to be unplugged during repair. I removed 6 nut screws to get to the repair. took the barrel out, replaced the pully wheel and belt paying attention to how they were originally. The pully was a little awkward to take off and put on, but not bad. My dryer purrs now. yahoooo!

I first removed the front panel and door on the dryer using a 5/16th nut driver. I needed to disconnect the light and switch to remove the door. I raised the top lid of the dryer to expose the drum. I rmover the fan schroud and lint filter by removing 4 5/16 screws with the nut driver. I disconnected the belt from the idle tension pully and removed the drum. The drum support rollers were visible on the back frame of the dryer. I removed the bad roller using snap ring pliers. After cleaning the roller support shaft and lubricating the shaft with grease I replaced the drum support roller and secured it with the snap ring. I also replaced the dryer belt although it was still workiing. I reasembled the dryer after giving the inside a cleaning with the shop vac. The hardest part was getting the belt secured with the tension idle pulley. When assemblying the fan schroud make sure it is snug against the fan so it doesn't leak. Replace the top and front door and cover connecting the switch and light. If you get the switch wires correct the dryer will run with the door shut otherwise reverse the wires.

Unplugged dryer removed the front, removed & marked the wires. Removed the drum & drive belt. Removed the snap ring on front of roller with a pgtai awl.Removed the wheel & worn washers, removed the nut on the back of the roller shaft. reppaced it all in reversed proceedure. Other than a few little scrapes on the knuckles it was Quite easy.

Had to lay dryer on back. Cause it didn't have a back cover had to take the front door off and go in thru the front. Had to take the vent off. Had to use scotch tape to hold the belt in place while I got it on. It would have been a lot easier if they had a back cover. I only hope I don't have to do it again as it squells a bit on start up. The front of the dryer needed to be taken off, the drum needed to be taken out and the belt installed on the wheel structure.

Found the belt was making the noise because it was badly cracked. Took the front of the dryer off and removed the s/s tumbling drum. Checked the ideler wheels and the tension wheel for wear and found none. Re-assembled the dryer with the new belt. After this was completed I replaced the time control in the top panel. This was rather easy as it only slips out after taking apart the box. After this the machine was switched on and every think ran quietly again. The discriptions and pictures used in thier web site is very helpful and shipment was very quick.

First we had to virtually take the entire dryer housing apart - not very user friendly. We found that one of the two mounting screws on on of the rollers was gone. The mount was just wobbling around which caused the roller to fail and all of the noise. The wheel removal was a bit tough since there is very little room to pull it up and off of the center post. Definately need at least one helper to pull up on the drum while the wheels are removed and installed. Once the two new rollers were in place, the dryer worked like it was new. Not an easy job, but very do-albe - saved a ton of money doing it myself. Two must - haves: good set of snap ring plyers and one patient helper.

Unlike the other stories I read (and the video posted on the site), my unit had a lower maintenance panel on the front face which required quite a different disassembly. Once I took off the lower panel, there were screws at the bottom of the top panel. Once removed, the top front panel came out and exposed the necessary interior components. In order to get the drum out, I took out the screws holding the front of the top on and wiggled the drum out. From there I removed the belt and offending idler lever, put in the new ones and hooked the spring back up. Reverse procedure to assemble and the problem is completely gone. I even found and removed an unexpected hair band from the front skid plate. Pretty doable if you're willing to spend the time.

Thump-thump, thump-thump went the dryer. After doing some research it sounded like the drum support rollers needed to be replaced. When disassembling the dryer, I discovered that this model is different than other Amana dryers. Do not start the disassembly with the top of the dryer. There are two front panels. You must first remove the smaller lower panel. You will find two screws close to the floor. Once you remove the screws the lower panel will come off exposing more screws. Remove those screws and the upper front panel will come off. Tilt the bottom of the panel out to clear the clips at the top. You will then see two screws attached holding down the top of the dryer with brackets. The rest of the disassembly is as described on the partselect video. I replaced the drum support rollers and also the pulley wheel and belt for good measure. I put it all back together. Rather proud of myself, I turn the dryer on. Thump-thump, thump-thump went the dryer. Argggh! Upon closer inspection, I saw that the thumping noise was made when the seam of the drum passed over the support wheel. The seam of the drum had broken causing the metal to flex on one side and create the thumping noise. I had the drum seam welded. There is still a slight thump from the repair, but it is so much better! So if you have a thumping dryer, make sure you check out the seam on the drum as well as the support rollers.

I pretty much followed a lot of the earlier postings on partselect.com that provided encouragement to pursue replacing this part on my 17 year old dryer (sorry, money is tight these days and I prefer repair to $800 replacement).

I'd like to add that I borrowed a pair of snap-ring pliers from work which made removal and later securing of roller onto shaft much easier and probably avoided a lot of knuckle bruising and cursing.

I erred though in a couple of places during the replacement. Disassembly took about 20 minutes. However, when I re-assembled I had mistakenly already put the roller onto the shaft before trying to put the drum back in. That isn't possible so I had to remove (an initial groan but only a few extra minutes in the end) the roller from the shaft, then reposition the drum and then the roller back on the shaft.

I also decided to replace the belt while I was in there and I should have taken a picture or made a drawing of the belt route before I took it off since I was later left pondering how the heck to snake the belt onto the shaft and also the tensioner. A quick trip to the internet though showed me a similar route and reminded me how to route it.

I'd also like to add to be cognizant of the wires on the door and front panel when disassembling.

Anyone with any sense of mechanical ability and a little common sense ought to be able to do this repiar.
