Four Cycle Timer - 60Hz 115V

Unplugged washer. Removed 3 phillips screws securing the top panel to washer cabinet,tilting it forward to expose electrical components. Verified the Lid Switch and Pressure Swtich were both operating w/ohm measurements w/multimeter.A loose paper of electrical schematics was folded and enclosed in top of panel area. I then plugged unit in to ensure 110VAC power was available to input of Timer Switch -it was. I concluded that the Timer Switch was defective. After initial tub water fill-ups it would just sit, sometime for an hour. Then it might agitate and after another long delay, would spin. I tried all 4 wash cycle positions. The shorter cycles seemed to work w/less irrregular delays, but still did not cycle through properly. Although a bit pricey ($114.89), the Cycle Timer Switch was purchased. Replacement [after power plug removal] , required removal of two hold down phillips screws and careful unplugging of multi-pin power plug, insuring the plastic lock tabs were depressed for unplugging. Installation was quick and easy w/exact match part. I feel the quality of the replacement "Maytag" part was of higher quality.i.e. original had plastic sheeting around body, while replacement had thin sheet metal and electrical contacts appeared more robust in their contact areas. Yes, I pulled old timer apart...I believe the small cycle motor just wore out at the gear splines, causing intermittant cycle timer advancement.

The knob and timer were a piece of cake to replace. Amana designed this machine for extremely easy access to the control panel area (i.e. timer)

The belt was the challenge (as should be expected).
The water pump must be removed to replace the belt .
This requires a #25 Torx bit and an awkward position.
I dicided to drop the motor and pump together to gain easier access to the pump mounting screws.
This was definately the key to success.

I took the olf timer off of the Washer and noticed that some of the points on the timer were bad. I search the internet for the best deal on a new time and PartSelect had the cheapest and best Web Site to handle my replacement part order. Not only did the part arrive early it was a perfect match. I would recommend them to anyone.

This was about a 5 minute fix. First, I disconected the power cord and shut off the water. Next, I removed 2 phillips screws and 3 hex head screws, removed the top cover, tilted the control panel forward, disconnected the harness from the timer, removed two phillips screws holding the timer in place, replaced the timer and harness, tilted the panel back in place, replaced the top cover and screws, turned the water back on, plugged the power cord in and started doing my laundry!

Installed new timer. Worked like a champ. Thank you for the part.

Unplugged unit and removed 5 screws that hold the top cover on. Removed round handle by twisting it counter clock wise. Might need something to help hold the shaft while twisting.
Unplugged timer and removed screws and replaced with new timer.

First I removed the 5 screws holding the control panel in place then tilted panel forward to gain access to the mounting screws to the timer and the electrical connection and removed and replaced the timer. Worked great the first time.
