The knob....she broke.

I pulled off the old metal sheath with a pair needle nose pliers....grueling....then gently slid on the new knob.

Knob was missing

Placed new knob on the post still present on the machine. Very easy. part fit perfectly and works properly with machine.

Broken knob on an old washing machine

within about 5 minutes I was able to search on the make of the washing machine and then quickly find the broken knob.
this in spite of not knowing the model number for a 25 year old machine. it couldn't have beeb easier than that.
