Protective lens over light bulb was missing

The lens cover is made so that you slip the end with the tab under the metal edge on one end and then attach it with one screw on the other end. The lens did not come with a replacement screw to hold it in, so I had to scrounge around in my screw bucket to find one that fit. Easy to get to (inside the dryer drum) and only one screw to hold it. Nothing to it.

Loud noise

watch the video. drum roller failed(noise) but looking at the rest of the dryer I desided to replace belt(cracking) and front guides(worn through in places) also discovered it wasn't mice making nests in dryer it was stuff coming through where light protective lense should have been. The video is better instruction than I could give. Thanks.

The light bulb was burned out and the lens cover was damaged.

The lens cover was easy to replace, but the bulb could not be extracted from the hole where the lens cover was (although it was indicated on the Internet that we could). We needed to get inside the dryer, but did not know how. I checked out a book from the library which told how to open the top dryer panel, but that way did not work. After a little more searching on the Internet, I was able to find a website that had FREE appliance repair manuals: http://www.appliancerepair.net/clothes-dryer-repair-5.html and that worked. It told us how to remove the FRONT panel. After removing the FRONT panel, not the TOP, I was able to replace the bulb easily. I was pleased to have been able to do this without calling a technician.

Clothes would snag on a jagged portion of the cracked lens cover.

First I removed one nut with a nut driver; slipped the broken lens off and replaced the broken one with the new lens.
