Icemaker quit working when we moved

My husband took out the old icemaker in about 5 minutes. The new icemaker was a perfect fit even though the refrigerator was >10yrs old. The only difficult part was the plug extension that was needed so that it would fit into an older appliance. The part was included, it just made the cord about 3 inches longer than it needed to. After working with it for about 20 minutes we were able to fit it on the back side of the icemaker. Now it works great!!

Would not make ice

The part I received was not an exact replacement, but GE confirmed that it was the current part to be used. The elect. cord on the new unit was about 3" longer than the original. In addition, it had the wrong plug, but they did supply an adapter cord with the correct plug, but that added another 6" to the cord length. There was no mention in the instructions, with the part ,for how to deal with all of the extra cord and the very bulky extra plug. After several attempts to get technical help from PartSelect and GE, I said to hell with it and just jambed the cord in as best I could. It is not pritty but it works.

The icemaker failed to make ice

I pulled the refrigerator away from the wall and turned off the water to the refrigerator and unplugged it from the wall. After removing the icebucket from the freezer I located the mounting screws, loosened them, unplugged the electrical connection below the icemaker and carefully removed it from the freezer. I unpacked the replacement icemaker, matched it against the original and attached the electrical connection adapter. Using the slots provided on the new icemaker I placed it over the mounting screws after aligning the water inlet pipe properly. I tightened the mounting screws while maintaining the icemaker in a level position. I plugged in the electrical connector. Then I replaced the icebucket, plugged in the refigerator back into the 110VAC outlet, turned on the water and repositioned the refrigerator in it's normal position.

Leaking and making stalactites

HAD TO DEFROST THE FREEZER TO MELT OFF ALL THE ICE BEFORE SERVICING. ONCE THAT WAS DONE THE ICEMAKER REPLACEMENT ONLY TOOK ABOUT 15-30 MINUTES TO COMPLETE. tHE NEW ICEMAKER CAME WITH MANY ACCESSORIES AND ADAPTORS THAT WERE NOT NEEDED AND THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE BASED ON REPLACING AN OLDER MODEL AND NOT REALLY CLEAR FOR MY MODEL. THEY MENTIONED NOT BEING ABLE TO USE THE NEW STRIPPER BUT IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE OLD ONE SO I LEFT THE NEW ONE IN PLACE. ALL IN ALL IT WAS EASY AND DID THE JOB.

Ice maker not calling for water to make ice.

I removed the screws that held the unit in place, and also the screws that held a plate that covered where the unit plugs in. I unplugged the unit, and removed it. Put the new one in, reversing the steps. Turned the new unit on, and had ice in 45 minutes! Summer is coming, I need my ice maker! This is the second unit I have replaced on this refrigerator, the first one was not releasing the cubes. This second one was a different style than the first, but same install process.

Ice maker would not fill.

Was concerned that new icemaker was quite a bit different than the one we were replacing. Called GE to confirm it was correct.

Went ahead and installed the unit, using the supplied electric cable adapter.

A little difficult to deal with the extra cable, but everything worked OK and it's making ice normally.

Ice maker quit working

The new ice maker did not look like the old one, but it was supposed to be a direct replacement. A cable was included to adapt the plug to the right outlet. I installed it and left the long cable hanging initially. when I tried to put the ice bucket back in it did not fit. After realizing the return policy said no return of installed components and I had opened the parts bag I decided to cut the ice maker bucket to size using a dremel cut off wheel. I made the bucket fit, but still had trouble getting the cable to fit well. It still doesn't but it does make Ice, and is functional.

No ice in hopper

Ice hopper had no ice in it. But water in door worked and if I added ice to hopper, it would dispense in door. I added water to ice maker but no ice was made. Replaced ice maker and all it required was to unplug harness and remove two screws with nut driver. Easy!

Replace ice maker

New ice maker only used 2 screws and the old one had 3. This was no problem. The old ice maker had already been removed. Just loosen the 3 screws and unplug the cord to ice maker. Only problem with ice maker was with the cord, which I had to use the supplied adapter. It was too long and in the way when reinstalling the ice bin. The ice bin had a small notch area on the bottom left. I used a plastic tie to bundle the cord into the notch. Carefully placed ice bin and no problem. The first part I received was damaged and was replaced 2 days later by a brand new part. Customer service charged for the replacement part but said they would credit my charge card within 2 to 3 weeks for the damaged part. Its been a week and if they follow thru like the said I woild give Part Select 5 Stars for service and Parts.

The ice maker needed replacing for a couple of years. Then, a couple of weeks ago, the water supply stopped serving both the ice maker, and the drink dispenser.

I ordered both a new replacement ice maker, and a new solenoid/pump. They were delivered to my house within one day and I had them installed in a matter of an hour. I had to use the power extension cord supplied with the ice maker.

The new "quick connect" hose couplings on the new pump are great.

Icemaker iced up completely; wouldn't drop ice. Water was dripping all over freezer.

I had to thaw the icemaker with a heat gun to remove it. Prior to repair, I watched your video of removal and replacement of icemaker. Found everything to be as explained in video. It was not necessary to remove the cover plate below the ice maker, since the electrical connection was visible and available after removing the ice maker. Except for dropped screw, everything went as planned. Presently making ice at a frantic pace.
