removed the old one and replaced with new
Removed by pulling out. Removed coupling air bell with socket and replaced. Wery well. Thnak you.
First and foremost, the job would have taken 2 hrs instead of 8 hrs. The problem was that no one on the help instructions said that the Hub Nut had a LEFT HAND thread and suggested to just break the nut off. Well, after chiseling off most of the nut I drilled small holes through the nut and removed the nut pieces. However; I learned that I had damaged the transmission seal and had to buy a new transmission $183. Had I known this the job would have taken much less time and at a cost of about $50.PS: The washer runs great.
Placed a small rope under the agitator and pulled up with a sudden jerk . It popped right up and out . I removed the bolt holding the coupling .I then removed old coupling and replaced with new coupling and bolt. I then installed new agitator pushing down until it clicked into place . All done , less than 15 minutes . Thanks to others that gave their feedback so we could learn what to do .
First I took off the old coupling (one screw). Put the new coupling on, lined up and snapped the new agitator onto the new coupling.Repair took les than 5 minutes. The longest part of the whole process was lining up the agitator to the coupling.
I had help taking off the old parts, coupling was not easy. But I installed the new parts by my self and I'm 74 years had trouble getting the Agitator Coupling back on, But the straps were easy, Any way I'm back to washing again thanks a bunch
unscrewed the old coupling, brushed off yucky build up and replaced, ta da back to washing clothes constantly !
I removed agitator by pulling it up until it unsnaped.I removed the old agitator coupling by removing the bolt and pulling up while twisting it.The new coupling looks different than the old part but fits the same.I pressed the new coupler on to the agitator shaft, reinstalled bolt and pressed agitator on the agitator coupler until it snaped into place.Washer runs like new!

Our GE washer stopped agitating. We bought us a Whirlpool Cabrio washer with auto-sensing and an impeller instead of an agitator. My wife couldn't get used to washing clothes with so little water. We found out about PartSelect.com and ordered the part they indicated would probably fix our GE washer ($5.86) - the Agitator Coupling Kit. Ordered it on Friday, received it by Fed Ex the following Tuesday. It was an easy installation. Our GE is working fine. Took the Whirlpool back to the store, got our $637.00 back.I plan to use PartSelect.com again,if I need to. We don't like the new type washers as well as our 7-1/2 year old GE.
Pulled agitator off existing agitator coupling. Removed and replaced agitator coupling. Snapped agitator on. One of the easiest appliance repairs I have ever attempted.
Very easy just pull straight up on agitator and remove bolt on coupler. Install new coupler and line up agitator and push down. Done
figerout how to take the old one off that was a little hard to do but did it. got the socket set to get the middle undone. clean to out and put the new one in and it works just fine and better then ever.
Replaced the plastic agitator coupler
