Timing tabs securing the agitator center
There are 4 tabs that come from the main agitator body through the center & lock into the centerpiece that holds the directional cogs. They have a tab similar to a cable tie that can only be put on once. They need to be clipped before it will dissassemble & reassembly is difficult because they need to be timed to reattach the round center cog plate. Maybe cut off 2 of them & taper the other 2 them for easier reassembly.

Top of agitator was not working
I basically followed the video that was available on Partselect. I had trouble getting the top of the agitator separated from the lower but I used a length of 2x4 and gently tapped this with a hammer (so I wasn't hitting the plastic directly with the hammer, never a good idea). I few taps around the perimeter of the upper agitator and it came apart. The rest was quite easy. I replaced the seal since it looked pretty worn when I first removed the inner cap.

Would not agita.
It was a blessing that I ordered the kit, because I thought it only needed the rubber seal and the four dogs. But because the seal and dogs cost less than the shipping I decided to order the kit and its good I did because the nochage on the basket sleeve was broke off. The blessing is that the sleeve was in the kit, sp it took 5 sec to slip it on along with the rest of the kit, and after about 15 min my wife was back to work. Thanks for saving me time and money without this web site I would have bought another brand new washer, thanks. Lennis from NC.

Top of agitator stopped working.
Removed nut holding the agitator in and replaced. Quick and easy. Was easy to order and was here in 3 days. Faster than the local part dealer could get it to me. Will use again if needed.

The adgitator was not moving as it should have.
Pulled off the cover on the adgitator then removed the cap inside the adgitator and the one 7/16 bolt holding on the adgitator. Pulled the adgitator top off the base and removed the drive section with the 4 fingers that engaged with the adgitator. Installed the new assembly, put the bolt back in and I was done. My wifes 19 year old Kitchenaid washer now works like new and all of that for less then $20.00

Upper agitator not spinning
After removing the pressed in cap inside the agitator i removed it from the machine with a socket wrench. Then it did not take long to figure out that the two peices snapped apart. then one look at the cogs (referred to as dog ears) i knew they where stripped and where the problem. Icanceled the service call and order the parts myself from this site. So it was very easy and i'm not sure how much money i saved but the bragging rights went along way with the wife, Thanks.

Worn cogs, machine would not agitate.
Well, I took out the worn parts, replaced them with new ones, end of problems. except that I did not see in the parts book where the new agit came with new cogs . So, I wound up with an extra set of cogs (at my cost). Gotta say one thing though, the service was good and fast, even though it was during christmas holidays. Thanks.

Agitator not working (again)
The dogs (directional cogs) cause the upper portion of the agitator to turn in one direction only. The clothes don't get clean unless this happens.
The material the dogs are made of wears out in a few months of use.
I buy 4 packages of them at once, every few years.
Pull off the inner cap, unscrew the bolt, remove the old cogs, put in the new ones, reverse the disassembly process and away we go.
