The freezer side quit working. So far the refrigerator side seems to be working. What might be the problem and solution

It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty defrost thermostat PS1017716 and/or possibly a malfunctioning defrost heater PS1993872 you should check the part(s) for signs of damage or test with a multimeter, and replace the part(s) as needed.
