Just slid off the old burner knobs, and pushed on the new ones. The most difficult part of the whole thing was just being sure that I ordered the correct knobs that used a D fitting. I ordered some a year ago that weren't the correct fitting.
We cleaned the rod on the stove and pushed the new knobs into place. This Jenn Air range was made in 1980. Nice to know Jenn Air is still making parts for their ranges. We also ordered new coil elements which fit perfectly size 6 inch and 8 inch.
I had tried several other "universal" brands from the home improvement center but nothing worked with my Jen-Aire. I finally ordered from PartSelect and they fit perfectly! My range-top looks brand new and finding and ordering the correct parts was amazingly easy. Thanks!
new knobs...parts hard to come by. Only site who had parts for my model stove. Even they are not fully available. I love my stove and wanted it to good new again. The knobs helped alot. I would love to be able to get more parts, if I could find them.
Ordered new cartridges
Pulled old knobs off, pressed new ones on. Probably well under a minute for 6 knobs. Anyone with the IQ of a horseradish could have done it. But what was really great was the help and personality of the agent at the other end of the phone. Shipping was as promised, and the entire experience was delightful!
took old knobs off replaced in 3 minutes
Turned power to stove off. Removed two screws from cover - lifted cover up and pulled switch out and disconnected wires. Put new switch in and connected wires. Made sure that it was in correct position by placing knob on to make sure off position was correct - then placed plate in position and closed - put two screws back on plate and put new knob on. Turned power back on and turned knob and burner back in operation
Ordering and installing was easy. The hardest part was getting the exact match to 20 yr. old appliance knobs. First one I ordered had wrong shaft hole, but it matched perfectly in design. Decided to reorder and just replace all four with matching new-style knobs and the correct shaft hole. Yeah. Looks great and REALLY easy to install.
Fed-Ex delivered the package and within 10 min I had open the package, removed the old knobs and installed the new ones, My wife was very impressed with the ease of the transactionl. It is good to know that we can still get parts for our cook top even though it is 26 years old. Thanks for every thing.
Removed old knobs and installed new. No tools were required.
Replaced worn parts
Thru the circuit braker for the unit. Removed 2 screws on the escuthion, removed the nuts holding the escuthion to the knobs, rplaced switch, escuthiuon, pilot light fixtures were defective so ordered some for overnight shipment. Pilot light fixtures were a little difficult but soon went together. Wired everthing up, screwed new estcuhion in place. Wow, looked like a new unit w/ new escuthion and knobs rather than a 20 year old unit. Thru circuit breaker on and nothing happend, no power to unit. Couldn't figure out problem for several hours. In despiration called and made a service appointment. Couple of hours later was rechecking circuit breaker because other outlers in kitchen didn't work either. Discovered I had thrown the circuit breaker for the oven rather than drop in stove unit. Tripped that circuit and ev erything worked like a champ. Cancelled service appointment and had a small "celibration".
Knobs sent fit the shafts, but due to molded internal stop wouldn't seat. Had to drill out the stop, and also file down the shafts a bit for knobs to seat acceptably closer to stove-top.
