This drip bowl is also known as a drip pan, and it is designed for use with cooktops and ranges. It sits below 8-inch burner elements, and catches drips and spills from the cookware on the burner. The diameter of the drip bowl is approximately 9 3/4 inches. This replacement might appear slightly different, but it will fit your appliance. You will need no tools to complete this repair. Simply remove the burner element, remove the old bowl, line the hole on the new bowl up with the terminal block and drop it into place. Make sure the bowl is flat before reinstalling the element. While you have the element out you should inspect the terminals for corrosion, damage, or discoloration. If you notice any of those things you should also replace the element and terminal block. You will need to replace your drip bowl if it is lost, damaged, or can no longer be cleaned. This replacement part is sold individually. To extend the life of your new drip bowl we recommend you clean it regularly with soap and water.

This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Magic Chef, Amana, Maytag, Crosley, Admiral, Roper, Norge, Hardwick, Caloric, Litton, Hoover, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Inglis, Estate.

This part works with the following products: Range, Cooktop, Microwave Oven Combo.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Element will not heat.

Question:

Hi trying to order the right drip bowls but mine doesn’t measure to be six inches it measures to be about seven and a half inches is this still the part I need?

Tom
Answer:

Hello Tom, what you are looking to measure should be the diameter of the outer edge where the drip bowl will be placed. The 6-inch drip bowl is found here W10196406RW, and the 8-inch can be found here WPW10196405. Best of luck with this repair!

Question:

Why do your drip bowls have holes in the middle but mine doesn’t? am I looking in the wrong place or something

Sonya
Answer:

Hi Sonya, this drip bowl may look different than the original, but that is because it is a replacement part and is used for different models of ranges. The manufacturer does list this W10196406RW as the 6-inch drip bowl for your unit, and WPW10196405 as the 8-inch. It should work just as well as the one you are replacing. I hope this helps!

Question:

How do I measure for a drip bowl. Inside or outside?

Chris
Answer:

Hello Chris, you need to measure the inner diameter of the drip pan, or measure across the “hole” so to speak. You could also measure the size of the element to see whether you need an 8-inch or a 6-inch drip bowl. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Temperature setting no longer readable

The new thermostat knob dial was installed in about a minute, good as brand new! I was concerned, as our range is about 25 years old, and my model number was not listed. But Partselect listed several similar models, and a quick spot check of these showed that the dial appears to be fairly universal for Whirlpool products. The new knob dial fit perfectly! The drip bowls also worked great.

Surface elements quit working

Drilled out old and broken hold down clips, installed new ones(4). Cut old wires attached to surface plug in block, striped wires, and attached new plugin kit(4), warmed up heat shrink with a hair dryer, put in new drip bowels, the stove is like new.
I ordered the parts on line early one morning, the next day they were at my door and installed that day, everything that I ordered was there, and fit properly.

Heating element for oven broke in two.

Removed the two screws holding the heating element to the back of the oven. Pulled the wires away from the connections of the old element and connected the new element. Reinstalled the screws holding the element to the back of the oven. Easiest repair I've ever done! Replaced the drip pans on the cook top and installed the new clock knobs. Good as new!

Needed to replace chrome drip bowls and replace one of the hold down clip since previous owner used incorrect drip bowls and put pressure on the hold down clip.

Pulled out the electric element from the range, replaced the new drip bowl on three of the burners and then replaced the electric element pushing it into the hold down clip. On the fourth burner, I removed the electric outlet, the previous incorrect drip bowl and had to drill out the broke off hold down clip that was no longer there. Next I placed the new hold down clip in position, alligned and fed the little screw through the hold down clip. I used a vice grip to hold the nut in place and with a screw driver tighened the nut. I placed the drip bowl in place, attached the electric element and slipped it into the new hold down clip. Everything went smoothly and I experienced an excellent repair job. We received prompt service and had no problems. I just hope the used appliance that we bought works now. It looks great. It is for a rental unit.

Regular parts replacement/maintenance.

We love our Jenn-Air electric range that we have owned since 1983 and couldn't get parts from where we bought it recently. We called around to Sears and other appliance dealers and they couldn't help us. We found your company searching on the internet and we are very much pleased with your parts listing and your great service. We will be back. Jody and Mike Hayden, Eden, Vt.

One of my burners would only work half the time, and you had to wobble it to make it work

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires, connected the new element using the wire caps, and finished bye rescrewing the element backinto place.

Installed new switches and elements

just move one wire at a time. Each switch has 5 wires and I am sure mixing them would not be good.

Ordered parts, they shipped same day. Arrived exactly as predicted. Totally non-stress. Can't find a thing to complain about.
