unscrewed inner door panel, removed latch assembly (wire connectors were corroded a bit so this took the most time) exchanged assembly. NEED TORQUE BIT!
Ordering the part was very easy. Ordered it on Friday and it was on my door step on Saturday. It took longer to take the screws out of the door then it was to install the new handle. Dishwasher is working great. Hopefully the new handle will last longer than the orignal handle.
Removed about ten screws which secured the inner liner in door. Two of those screws also were designed for double duty as they also held the handle assembly in place. The handle has two electrical connectors to remove. Reconnect the assembly and reassemble inner liner screws. The fix was easy. New handle assembly has a steel pivot pin instead of plastic so replacement part/assembly addresses the failure mode.
Unscrewed door panel; replaced latch mechanism (old one was broken), including a bit of very simple wiring; screwed door panel back in place.Dishwasher closes and runs fine now!
Ordered the latch part Friday A.M., Saturday afternoon it arrived. My wife repaired it while I supervised. (She doesn't have a tool belt yet). It took longer to pry off the 2 switch connectors than it took to remove and replace all the screws. They were on there pretty good, so we used extra care. Now she's my "Handygirl". Works great. The price was lower than I could find locally too. Thanks for great service.
