Female tab connection to heating element melted and disconnected
I previously replaced the OEM broken heating element with a compatible but non-OEM version. It lasted several months, but the element melted one of the female electrical tabs and effectively disconnected it. The repair was simple. I ordered a replacement high temperature female tab and a new OEM element from partselect. Removed the broken element, opened the back of my oven, cut back on the electrical wire and attached the replacement female tab and re-threaded through the opening into the oven. Installed the new OEM element and reconnected the electrical leads. Flipped the breaker back on and tested it. Worked like a charm. Closed up the back of the oven and put back into the cabinet. I now have a working oven again and no problems since. My oven was manufactured in 1984 and has been running like a champ!

1980 Whirlpool self cleaning Oven bake element broke from prolonged use
The Gentlemen before me with the 25 year old Whirlpool
Oven repair element was very helpful, our oven was built
In 1980 and now it works perfectly again, the serial and
Model numbers are no longer avaliable to match but
This OEM part fit perfectly and was exact as the last one.
These ovens will out last the ones build today ours is
39 years old an was used very lightly over its first 15-20 years as it was in a vacation home. Now we live here full
Time an the oven is used often. Parts select was great they
Sent the right part and the Instructions from the gentlemen
With the 25 year old whirlpool unit made it a snap. Excellent
Service, shipping and instructions for do it yourself repairs...
Highly Recommend......5 star:))

Bake portion of range does not work, looking at the bottom element of the oven you may be able to see the brake in the element if not check it with a meter to see if there is a current.
MAKE SURE OVEN IS OFF, MAKE SURE OVEN IS OFF DONT try to take of the small screws that hold the element in place particulary if it is older (mine was 25 years)usless you have the correct socket. Remember left to loosen and right to tight.Buy the correct size or you will buy new screws in the end.Lay newspaper over the open door before you reach in to the oven to keep from getting any soot or grease on your shirt when you are reaching into the oven. Remove trays from oven.Reach into the oven with the socket( a extension helps)and remove the screws.Gently pull the ends of the old element out of the back of the oven you will see they are connected to wires by slipon clips. Gently pry them off with a small screwdriver putting the screwdriver at the base and turning the screwdriver to pry them up. The box that the new element came in works nicely for the old element. Now is a good time to clean anything on the bottom of the oven while the element is out.Gently attach the wires on the new element slip them back into the back of the oven.Attach one screw but dont completely tighten then do the other one and tighten it.Now tighten the first one.Return trays remove newspaper get you clubs or fishing rod and go have a nice day.
