My machine wouldn't run.
Actually, my brother-in-law did the repair. He replaced the part, but found out that it was another part that was the problem. We kept the part because he told us that this part would be the next thing to go, so we just kept it. Now, we ordered and fixed the correct part and it works great.

washer would not run
First, I removed the two screws that hold the back-top in place. I removed the top to get to the control timer. I replaced the control timer with a new part and replaced the lid switch (which I broke removing the old one). Put it all back together and still nothing. I removed the two spring U clamps at the top back that hold the entire casing in place. I removed the casing. I checked out the wires leading to the motor and the white wire showed signs of a burn. When touching this wire it broke off. I used a pigtale from the connector to the old wire, soldered it in place and put it all back together AND, WOW, LUCKY ME it has been working since.
The parts I ordered on Monday, came to my house the next day and I did not pay for additonal shipping. I returned the timer and the $ was credited to my account in about one week. Partsselect is about the best experience I have had on the internet.

My machine is doing these things intermittently but it never gets through a full wash load without one or more of these things happening: 1. Pauses after wash cycle for 45 sec. before starting to drain. 2. Pauses during the draining of wash water for 5 sec. then begins again. 3. Pauses after the rinse cycle for 90 sec. starts draining then quits and starts again. 4. Skips final spin cycle. There is no longer cold water running on either spin cycle. I had a repairman out, told him I thought it was the timer, he said it was a connection issue. Bottom line, washer still isn't running right.

Hi Debra, thank you for reaching out. Make sure your water inlet valve is not clogged and water flow is not restricted. Also, check the drain hose and drain pump for clogs and make sure water is draining properly, and the door is getting close properly and there is no obstruction. If all checks are fine, you will need to replace the timer, part number PS11743432. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Hi, my washer fills and then runs on agitate and never goes past that point. I will literally run all night in that position. Would replacing the timer fix this?
For model number Whirlpool 8525079
PartSelect logo
Hello Ryan, thank you for contacting us. The most probable cause of the described issue is a faulty timer. When the timer is defective the washer will not advance to the next cycle. We would recommend checking the timer and electronic control board with a multimeter to pinpoint the fault. We hope this information helps!
