This wheel mount broke from normal use and made the upper dish rack disconnect from the sliding arm that extends it outside the dishwasher body so that you can fill it. The part was delivered quickly and was easy to install using just a screwdriver to loosen the retainer clip on the end of the extension slide. Once the retainer clip was removed, the new part was slid into place and clipped onto the rack. The install was complete.

I had to fiddle with the mount a bit to get it on the rack properly. Then I pulled back slightly on the inner part of the end piece of the track while also pulling the top of the piece back and released the inner tip of the piece, allowing the end piece to be removed. I placed the new wheel in the track and replaced the end piece. Super easy and a small fraction of what a repairman had told me the part would cost.
Each Molded one-piece plastic upper dishrack wheel mount includes a tiny plastic spring clip which hold the mount in place on the upper dish washer rack. These clips become dry and britle over time and snap off.Because they are molded in the wheel mount itself you have to replace the entire wheel mount assembly
Amazingly, this not-too-old dishwasher's plastic parts that hold the top rack onto the sliders became brittle (a real design flaw, in my opinion) and the tabs that held the rollers in place all broke off. With the right parts and the great instructions on this site, the repair was fairly easy and we saved a lot of $$ by not having to call for service. Just follow the instructions...
the parts only took a few days to arrive, and it took me about 2 minutes to install them-no tools were required. i took out the end plugs from the slider bars, slipped out the old broken wheel parts, snapped on the new ones, slid the upper rack into the slider assembly, popped the end plugs back into place and VOILA!!aside from the expense of the parts- much better to go this route rather than hire a repair guy to do it!!
We replaced all four. You unclip the two front parts on the top drawer to pull it all the way out of the dishwasher. Unsnap the old mounts and clip the new ones on. Slide the top drawer rack back in and replace the two front clips. This was truly an easy repair!
Pull the dishwasher out, unscrew the old wheel assemblies and screw in the new ones, that easy, anyone could fix this problem, it is a poor deisng though, the inside of my dishwasher is stainless and the only thing to go bad are the plastic parts
Took stop off end of track by smooshing spreader things together with butter knife, so they would fit through holes.Maneuvered wheel on track and clip on rack. Put the stop back on.
After reading info on your web site, logged onto YouTube and watched the video about the installation of the detergent dispenser. I watched it several times while making the repair to get it right. The only difficult part was getting the old detergent dispenser off because the screws were difficult to reach with the drill, but persistence won out. I had called the local repair place for KitchenAid appliances several months ago & was told I could not replace the detergent dispenser myself because it was "electronic". Sounded like a challenge to me. Replacing the stationary upper dishrack wheel mount was easy and took about 2 minutes. So glad it went so well, thanks for the help.
Opened the box. Took the broken ones out of the dishwasher. Put the new ones in. My 7-year-old fixed it herself. :)
I ordered part # PS11745459 - Upper Dishrack Wheel Mount. The hardest part for me at first was to remove the Rack Trap Stop. My husband was able to remove it with a screwdriver and also put it back on by hand after. He said I didn't pull it hard enough. Well once that was done, I slid off the wheel that had broke off the part I bought as replacement. The second hardest part for us both was to wedge in the piece. You have to put it in from the bottom up without the wheel slid in yet and position the two notch grooves sideways to the basket and twist in. A little tricky but easy once it's done. Part also arrived quickly.
The phone staff was so patient and helped me with the schematic and my model number to be sure that I had the right parts. I did the repair myself and saved so much money. Thanks.
Snapped off old plastic wheel units and snapped new one one and finally put it back onto the track
Have all the tools at your disposal. Remove top rack after removing the track stop. Remove 2 screws that hold unit in to cabinet. They are under the little caps. That is when you need the magnet for the screwdriver. Wiggle tub out of space and remove hex head screws that hold the wheel mount. Save the gasket for install. Put things back the way they came off. Changing the upper dishrack requires some twisting and gentle pressure. Even if one is broken, replace all 4. Put back the screws to the cabinet and the end caps.
The repair was very, very easy. The only tool I used were my fingers. Took me about 2 minutes. Would have been less but I forgot to remove the broken wheel before installing the new one so I had to repeat the process. This hardest part was removing the end piece from the rail. If you look closely there is a little tab that needs to be pushed forward to remove the end piece. Once that is done it's very easy. I'm sure I saved $100 vs calling a repair person. I actually purchased 2 replacement parts in anticipation of another one breaking.
