This chopper assembly chops/minces the food particles to prevent clogging of the dishwasher pump.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
Somehow, a wooden chopstick found it's way to the chopper (a small disposal in your dishwasher), and broke the (plastic) rotor. Food was no longer being finely chopped, and was unable to pass through a filter screen. This reduced water pressure, and prevented effective operation of the upper spray arm. It is not difficult to get to the chopper to make the repair. Refer to the guide taped to the backside of the floor panel. Note that the chopper can be accessed through the bottom of the tub itself. Remove the spray tube from the wash module manifold, then twist the manifold CCW to release it. Then, remove attaching screws to the screen, foreign object protector and inlet protector to reach the chopper assembly. I replaced the broken chopper and reversed procedure.

We tore the dishwasher apart till we found something broken! We found the chopper assembly was broke. I by chance found your wonderful web site. A $30 part fixed my dishwasher. I actually was shopping for a new dishwasher. My old one works PERFECT! Thank you!
it about 30 min to replase this part it was easy as pie.
I unscrewed two plastic covers to get to the chopper. I found out that the blade fell off and could not be put back in place. As a result the filter behind it was all clogged. I replaced the whole thing with the new one and put the plastic covers back in place. The dishwasher works like a charm. The hard part was that the screws have proprietary heads, so it is hard to screw/unscrew them with a regular screwdriver. Other than that the exercise is trivial.
At first I thought that it was the feed tube but after some more thought I started diging and found the chopper broken cleaned the screen and got water to top tray so I ordered the chopper assembly and now it works fine
Remove the Racks. Unscrew the lower wash arm with the plastic thumb screw in the middle, set aside. Remove the water chase to the upper wash arm by unclipping the metal keepers at the back of washer and at the top.Spin remaining water chase clockwise and lift out. Remove torx screws-4 of them. lift out lower assembly. remove one more screw that holds chopper cover in. remove chopper cover. replace /clean chopper assembly screen and any other debris in bottom of washer. install..reverse removal instructions.
removed 2 trays and parts and 4 screws
