This silverware basket is gray in color and measures 8 inches wide by 11-1/2 inches high by 12 inches deep. The silverware basket is used to hold small utensils such as forks, spoons, and knives during dishwashing. The manufacturer has redesigned this part to be a complete, full basket with a handle and covers. The basket comes apart into two pieces if you prefer to place them along the sides of your dishwasher instead of the front section of your bottom dish rack. To prolong the life, try not to jam your utensils into place, also try to place them into the holders carefully instead of dropping them in.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
pulled out old door gasket and on the third try it fit perfectly.took out 8 screws on the door, seperated the plaster inner door from the outer. undid 2 screws to replace the dispenser door latch gasket.dropped the new silverware basket into the dishwasher and put the 8 screws back in.it closes a bit tigher now, but it does not drip...Thank you...

Replacement basket did not include handle so needed to pry old handle off broken unit to use on the new one. Used screw driver to pop loose clips which attached to basket. Had to stick tooth picks broken in half under them to hold out until all four clips were opened at once - then handle could be pulled off. Easily snapped it back on to the new basket and repair was done. Can't get any easier than this!
seeing as how my husband was out of town, I inserted a regular flatware knife in each of the four slots that held the handle in place on the basket. I then slowly pushed down on the handles of the knives on opposite sides of each other to unlock the handle from two slots on the basket and then went on to push down on the other two flatware knives on the opposite sides...sure enough, the handle came right off...less than 5 minutes in all to take the old handle off from the old basket and then snap it into place onto my newly acquired basket.
Removed old unit, snapped handle onto new unit and installed itNOTE: THE DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE ORDERING GRID ARE NOT ACCURATE. THE UNIT IS MORE LIKE 9 INCHES LONG INSTEAD OF 11 AND 6 INCHES WIDE AS OPPOSED TO 7.This error occured on several websites so I suspect that Maytag's specs are off.
When the (overpriced) replacement silverware basket arrived (rapidly, within a few days of my ordering) I was shocked and angry that the handle for the basket was not included--nor were instructions included as to how to remove the old handle from the old basket in order to fasten it to the new basket. Therefore, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to pry the handle off the old one, which was quite tricky: There were four slots which held the plastic "catches", and they had to be pushed out simultaneously. I had to fiddle with it for at least a half hour, trying various implements, until I found that I could push them out simultaneously by wedging butter knives into the slots and then easing the handle off. (I was careful to position myself so that I wouldn't slip and stab myself with the blunt butter knife.) After that, the handle snapped fairly easily into the new basket's slots. In the end, while I was glad to be able to recycle the old handle, I wish that the basket and shelves were made more durably so they wouldn't have to be replaced, or that they could be replaced at a more reasonable price.

The basket did not include the handle (something I didn't notice when I ordered it). I simply removed the handle from the old basket and placed it on the new basket. Having utensils falling through was really getting old. This was $25 well spent.
Removed the handle from the old basket and put it onto the new basket. The new basket is great!
Excellent site. When the dishwasher started making a loud grinding sound, i thought "oh great -- now I'll have to buy a new one". After searching the internet (I just entered the model number of my Maytag dishwasher), Partsselect.com came up in the search results. I read several postings from previous customers which described the same problem I was having... followed their step-by-step instructions and was able to disassemble the lower washer arm and find the culprit -- a broken wash impeller. Ordered the parts, they arrived within a couple of days, spent 15 mins putting everything back together and I'm now good to go! THANKS PARTS SELECT!!!!! I owe somebody a free lunch!
Hi, Not really a "repair," but a replacement. The part came quickly, was what I needed. Done.
No repair - just replaced basket. Although picture on site made the basket look light gray, which is color of our dishwasher interior but the new basket ordered is very dark gray.
I put the silverware basket in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, I also purchased a cover and handle thinking they were needed. Now I need to see about returning the extra parts or just eat the cost.
Just inserted new basket - used butter knife to remove handle from old basket so it could be inserted on new basket. It was helpful to see comments left by others that they had same problem with their baskets and how one used a knife to remove old handle. That was a helpful hint.
Replaced old basket but the new one doesn't come with the handle. To remove handle from old basket I used a butter knife to slip through small notches that hold basket handle to basket.Easily replaced front and rear tines by using clips that held the rusted ones on. Simply observed how the old clips held tines in place and copied.
