This part has been redesigned by the manufacturer and is now a complete full basket with handle and covers.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
When the (overpriced) replacement silverware basket arrived (rapidly, within a few days of my ordering) I was shocked and angry that the handle for the basket was not included--nor were instructions included as to how to remove the old handle from the old basket in order to fasten it to the new basket. Therefore, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to pry the handle off the old one, which was quite tricky: There were four slots which held the plastic "catches", and they had to be pushed out simultaneously. I had to fiddle with it for at least a half hour, trying various implements, until I found that I could push them out simultaneously by wedging butter knives into the slots and then easing the handle off. (I was careful to position myself so that I wouldn't slip and stab myself with the blunt butter knife.) After that, the handle snapped fairly easily into the new basket's slots. In the end, while I was glad to be able to recycle the old handle, I wish that the basket and shelves were made more durably so they wouldn't have to be replaced, or that they could be replaced at a more reasonable price.

The basket did not include the handle (something I didn't notice when I ordered it). I simply removed the handle from the old basket and placed it on the new basket. Having utensils falling through was really getting old. This was $25 well spent.
Removed the handle from the old basket and put it onto the new basket. The new basket is great!
Excellent site. When the dishwasher started making a loud grinding sound, i thought "oh great -- now I'll have to buy a new one". After searching the internet (I just entered the model number of my Maytag dishwasher), Partsselect.com came up in the search results. I read several postings from previous customers which described the same problem I was having... followed their step-by-step instructions and was able to disassemble the lower washer arm and find the culprit -- a broken wash impeller. Ordered the parts, they arrived within a couple of days, spent 15 mins putting everything back together and I'm now good to go! THANKS PARTS SELECT!!!!! I owe somebody a free lunch!
Hi, Not really a "repair," but a replacement. The part came quickly, was what I needed. Done.
No repair - just replaced basket. Although picture on site made the basket look light gray, which is color of our dishwasher interior but the new basket ordered is very dark gray.
I put the silverware basket in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, I also purchased a cover and handle thinking they were needed. Now I need to see about returning the extra parts or just eat the cost.
Just inserted new basket - used butter knife to remove handle from old basket so it could be inserted on new basket. It was helpful to see comments left by others that they had same problem with their baskets and how one used a knife to remove old handle. That was a helpful hint.
Replaced old basket but the new one doesn't come with the handle. To remove handle from old basket I used a butter knife to slip through small notches that hold basket handle to basket.Easily replaced front and rear tines by using clips that held the rusted ones on. Simply observed how the old clips held tines in place and copied.
The basket and the lower rack lifted right out, and the new ones inserted. The only problem was that one wheel sent with the new rack was broken during shipping. It wasn't a big problem b/c one of the old basket wheels could be removed and snapped into place on the new dish rack.
welllll....I put the new basket in the rack. I guess if I has some dramatic music this description would be more interesting. The only slight effort I put in was to pry a handle with a butter knife from the old one to put on the new one. It was the most intense effort of the day. I'm thinking about opening an appliance repair service, it was such an amazing success.no, not really
It was easy. We removed the handle from the old basket and put in on the new and set it in place. Wonderfully easy.
just replaced the basket. Simple enough but the best thing was the speed I received the part.
