Pulled fabric softner top off, undid the 7/16 nut And pulled cam assembly out. Only problem is my fat hands kept getting stuck in parts. Other than that my mother could have done it in 15 minutes. Very simple repair, parts fit perfectly. Ido have one suggestion that the kit includes a wee dab of lube in the kit, vaseline should work.
fast and easy
First I watched the online video to be sure of the parts I would need and for any tips that might make the repair easier.(The video suggested replacing the bolt, and it looked to me to be a good idea to replace the seal). I removed the softener dispenser (which exposed the inner cap). Then I removed the inner cap (which exposed the agitator bolt). I removed the bolt and lifted out the agitator. Popped the top portion off, replaced the directional cogs and then put it all back together. I am a fairly handy person but appliances are not my thing. The video gave me all the assurance I needed. Fifteen minutes and $15; sure beats calling a repairman!
Fantastic. With your exploded views and video it was super simple. Will definitely use you again.
I removed the top cover of the auger and then pulled out the cap and seal. Removed the agitator mounting bolt and lifed the whole assembly out. If you are new at this just follow the instructions that are very well put togother to help if you have not done this before. For me I use to do HVAC and Appliance Repair work so that made this easy repairs for me.
remove softener dispenser, remove seal plate, remove bolt, than lift out agitator. Seperate agitator halfs. Then remove agitator section. Follow diretions that come with repair kit. Then reinstall
The "dogs" were worn out; I used a socket and extension to remove the auger, then replaced the thrust spacer, auger-agitator along with the repair kit. The most common culprit which wears out is usually the cam dogs. When you hear a grinding sound with the machine under a load, it usually means the dogs are not grabbing properly. If you see that the agitator isn't rotating, you will need to replace the nylon dogs. In most cases, the old auger will likely be in good shape, so it's important to check the teeth where the cam dogs make contact before ordering the parts.
I am a woman and not very experienced with large appliance repairs. This was very simple thanks to the diagram posted and the other comments. It saved us time, repair costs and a new washer for now. The ultimate recycling :). Thank you to all who posted
first i looked up repair section of washer .then removed agitator was removed and changed parts that were bad and replaced agitator and bolt securring it . Easy repair and fast some mechanical avility requirred.
replaced the part like your web site said and works great .thanks
READ THE DIRECTIONS! Removed the bolt, took of the agitator, replaced the parts, but the agitator on the shaft, installed the new bolt, Done! The instructions & pictures,
I removed top of agitator, replaced thrust washer applied grease, installed cogs and nut screw kit, washer now works perfect again. Thanks for your help and the instructions that came with the parts was very helpfull. Tom Lewis
Followed the "pictures" and was easy enough.
It was easy after watching the video. No need to replace bolt. Recommend to remove the agitator inspect and the order the parts so that you get all in shipping. Grease is not needed and expensive to buy a tube, should have included as small one time applicator. Cleaning took more time then replacing the part.
