Micro Switch Specifications

This is a micro switch, which is also known as a door switch for your microwave. The main reason for needing to replace this part is if you are not getting heat to your appliance. The door switch is located behind the front panel of your appliance. When the appliance door closes, this part will make contact with the door hook, which will allow the microwave to heat. Use caution when making this installation, as high-voltage capacitors found in microwaves can hold a lethal electric charge for longer periods of time, even if the appliance has been unplugged. It is recommended you wear work gloves for this repair.

Micro kept running when the door opened.......NOT GOOD
After minimum research, it was identified as a micro switch in the door. There is a total of 3, The top and bottom switches are the same in the odd one is in the middle just above the lower switch. Problem i had was one of the you tube videos said to grab the switches with pliers and force them out.;not a good idea. it breaks the lever in the switch holder bar. Solution is to remove the plastic switch holder bar from the door frame removing the 2 screws on the inside of the frame and then you can flip the lever in the bar which secures the switches on the door side. Use a small screwdriver to release the lever and they will slide right out. FYI the plastic switch holder bar is no longer available. I used electrical tape to secure my switches since the levers were broken from forcing them out.

Good Luck

Microwave would continue to run even when door was open. (even if no time was left on timer)
Unplugged Microwave, Removed vent cover (2 screws on top of microwave, then slide cover to the left, then forward) Removed control panel (1 screw at top of panel) then removed the two screws that hold in the door switch assembly. (these you will only see by opening the microwave). Located lower door switch, removed connecting wires, and pulled switch by releasing small plastic tab which held it in. Put new switch in place, reconnected wires, then reconnected door switch assembly. Reconnected control panel, and then put the vent cover back on. Tested microwave and it no longer runs when the door is open. Super easy fix, and was done in under 5 minutes.

Hi Steve, Thank you for the question. There are two micro switches, PartSelect Number PS11741686 on the appliance. I suggest replacing both of these switches. These switches prevent the appliance from running while the door is open. Hope this helps!

Microwave continues to run (no light illuminated) when the door is closed and time has expired. Microwave stops when the door is open. I have found three micro switches that are activated by the door closing. Should i replace all three, or does one of the three control various operations of the microwave. Two of the micro switches are the same, with the third having a lower terminal. Can you provide part numbers for the three micros?

Hello Scott, Thank you for your inquiry. The part# WP3405-001034-the two that should be the same and part# WP3405-001033. You can test all three switches with a multimeter. Hope this helps!

Enter time and push start and the clock runs down, but there is no heat. If I open door and close it, it may start. It may also start if I just wiggle the handle on the door. Is this switch the one I need.

Hi Tim, Thank you for the question. I woudl recommend replacing the PartSelect Number PS11741686. There are two of these switches so the only way to know for sure is to check them for continuity with a multimeter. Hope this helps!

Everything on the Maytag microwave works such as the time of day, timers, lights, etc. All work, but microwave will not heat anything. Please help with advice on how to fix this issue.
For model number MMV4205BAS
PartSelect logo
Hello Yvonne, thank you for your question. The most common issue that causes microwaves to not heat is the door switches. Even if the appliance is working as far as time of day, timers, lights, etc, the switches might not be working properly, or in the right sequence to start the microwave heating. I would suggest replacing the door switches, there are 2 of part number Micro Switch Part Number: WP3405-001034 and 1 of part number Micro Switch Part Number: WP3405-001033. If these are replaced, and the issue continues, the problem would be with the magnetron or the high voltage capacitor. I hope this helps!

Makes noise from right top of microwave, its not the switches or the fan. Has no heat, everything else is ok. I can smell like burning lite smell.
For model number MMV4205BAW
PartSelect logo
Hi Steve, Thank you for the question. The first part I suggest checking is the Diode, Part Number: PS4235633. If the diode is good then you need to check the Capacitor, Part Number: PS1486840 and the Magnetron, Part Number: PS11748664. These parts work together to create heat. Hope this helps!
