This was the first time I ever attempted such a repair on an appliance, but it was fairly easy once I figured out how to take the front of the dryer off! I was almost certain that the igniter was the problem was it didn't glow like it did before. On this particular LP Gas dryer from Maytag there is a little service door on the front near the floor. It is almost impossible to get your arm in there plus still have room to shine light in! I took off the two screws at an angle down near the floor and the whole front came off. I used a mini socket wrench to disconnect the igniter. I didn't have to remove the screw as the part slips on over the screw, then you just tighten the screw, connect the cable and it worked perfectly! Thanks PartSelect! As for the lint filter...the original has been broken for probably close to 10 years. It was just a matter of slipping the new one in.

This is hardly a "repair". You toss out the old lint screen and put the new one in. The hardest part was getting the lint screen out of the plastic bag it came in...ta da it is done...
Researched for part on PartSelect, ordered part, arrived next day, cut open delivery package and plastic bag containing lint filter and placed new filter in dryer filter channel. Quick & super easy - my kind of DIY!
Disconnected the dryer, removed the front cover, front drum support, and the entire drum (30 min.). Completely cleaned all lint and debris from inside the dryer (30 min.). Installed the new tumbler roller shafts and drum support rollers (20 min.). Installed the new drive belt (30 min.). Re-assembled and re-connected the dryer and ran to verify operation (30 min.). The dryer runs like new. I found I didn't need the front glide kit , as I replaced the glides a couple years ago and they were in excellent condition. All in all, the parts, service and instructions were outstanding. I will use PartSelect whenever I need to repair my appliances from now on.
ordered new filter,,,,
Took out the old lint filter and put in the new one. Works great
Inserted new lint filter...one second! No tools needed. Price excellent!
used a utility knife to open the box in which the part was shipped, discarded the old filter and inserted the new one
took out old and placed in new
Remove part from package. put in place. press in pins. done. Now I'm ready to fix the tub bearings and the wax motor ! save $500 or more.
My part was not amazing. What was genuinely cool: I ordered it one day and it was here the next, took out the old and put in the new. Thanks for getting it here so quickly.
Replaced with new part from PartSelect . Works Fine.
why didn't I order this 10 years ago??? !!!!
After watching the short video on belt repair, I put the belt on and ran it through the idle wheel from the small opening on the back of the dryer. I made sure that the felt around the tumbler was not folded and that the tumbler was free to spin.I also thoroughly vacuumed the entire interior of the dryer and the lint filter channel
Purchased a replacement filter and installed it.
