If your freestanding ice maker is not producing ice properly, the ice cutter grid assembly may need replacing. The cutter grid is located within the main unit of the ice maker, and contains thin, heated wires that slice the ice into cubes that are then deposited in the ice bin. If the cutter grid is broken, ice can back up within the ice maker. This part is sold as a complete assembly and is used with freestanding ice makers. Be sure to wear work gloves to protect your hands when completing this repair. This is an OEM part that sources directly from the manufacturer.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
I removed the 2 screws on each side of the grid and disconnected the electrical plugs attached to the grid. I slid the broken unit out. I then carefully slid the new unit in making sure not to pinch any of the electrical wires. I replaced the mounting screws, plugged the 3 connectors back into place and turned the ice maker back on. I had ice cubes within a couple of hours

Replaced the assy. But, I would have been happier if you sold just the wires. I could have replaced the wires at a much lower cost and may have taken less than an hour to replace the wires.Still happy - the ice maker works.
Unplugged the unit. Removed 2 screws to remove front cover to access the cutter grid.removed 2 screws to the cutter grid, unsnapped power connector and removed broken grid. Slid new grid in place, reconnected power connector, replaced screws, plugged in ice maker and slid back in place. Very easy!!!
I completely broke down the unit cleaning or replacing any part with rust. The replacement grid assembly (cutter) came from partselect within days of ordering. I was able reassemble the unit with the new grid assemble. Now have fresh ice. Thanks Partselect... you made this do-it-your-selfer very HAPPY! My wife cannot beleive I got the unit back together.
had to have a strong box on the floor to support the double oven when removed. lot's of screws and wires to contend with.
