Replace snubber ring and 6 suspension springs
As a 78 year old senior, I no longer have the upper strength and agility to remove the springs. Had to remove the washer casing (9 screws and 3 bolts), which gave me full access to r disconnect the springs, remove the tub, replace the snubber ring and reinstall the springs. The complete repair took me 6 hours, no assistance and was very thankful for the excellent videos available online.
Parts arrived in 3 days, fantastic delivery service, great prices and fixed my washer for $107.

replaced the snubber ring / the belt / springs
As for how I did the repair , I just followed your instruction video . The instruction video provided by Part Select was very very valuable.
The snubber ring was a piece of cake BUT would have been really difficult without the helpful hints in the video like replacing three of the screws in the rings collar with three longer screws so as not to disturb the spring under it.
The suspension springs were a bit more trouble since my washer doesn't have an access panel on the back however THANKS TO YOUR TIP to stretch the spring and put coins between the coils made this much easier . I don't know many guys that are strong enough to lay down and reach through the front and put those springs on the back.
Of coarse the belt was easy.

I also really like you list of probable solutions to the problems with the machine.

My wife is now happy with her washer again therefore I am also happy.

Thanks so much.
I can see me being be a loyal customer for many years to come.

would no longer spin with a load of clothes, but would still drain the water.
Replaced the transmission pulley and bearing. Also I put on a new drive belt. I did the repairs exactly the way Steve does in the repair videos.
Replace the Transmission Pulley and Bearing Kit - 5:44
Replaced the Drive Belt 52 inches - 1:10
Also I replaced the drain pump even though it still worked, because the machine is 19 years old.
Replace the Drain Pump video - 6:22 min.
After doing the repairs, the Maytag Atlantis washer now works fine.

Washer Machine would shake drastically during spin cycle (shaking more as water emptied outs because of the removal of the water weight during the spin cycle)
Part Select data showed that over 60% of the time, this issue of the washer shaking was due to broken support springs for the tub and over 30% of the time, it was a worn/broken snubber ring. So, I initially purchased the six springs and snubber ($30 total) from this site and completed both of those repairs. I leveled the washer securely and tested it again. However, the washer still had the issue of shaking during the spin cycle with no improvement. So, I then researched again for this issue and parts recommended were a lower bearing kit or transmission. Since the transmission replacement was $429, that wasn't worth trying. So, for the $52 lower bearing kit, I ordered it from along with a new belt ($22) (even though the existing belt didn't show any signs of significant wear, but I changed it anyway). The new bearing kit was installed and the washer is now operating like new. I used the current videos on the website for replacing the parts that I ordered, and they were perfect step by step instructions. It made the repair very simple for anyone with any sense of do-it yourself ability and with minimum, ordinary tools. So, for approximately $110 for parts and doing the repair myself, the washer is like new again. Thank you!!!!

Grinding sound when unit was running and eventually locked up
Had to change the drain pump, the bearing was shot and was the reason for the noise and the eventual stopping/belt breakage....Watch the video on this site for the drain pump procedure it's very helpful....The drain pump swap-out was very easy...Two hose clamps and three small bolts and it was done in no time..I changed out the snubber ring while I was in there... I used vise-grips to grab the the springs for removal/installation and lifted whe whole drum out....Just as others on here have suggested just loosen the retainer screws holding the old snubber ring just enough to slip it out and the new one in...It's really that easy...The toughest part is dealing with the springs and one piece of advice I can offer is to start with the hardest to reach first and save the easiest for last upon reassembly...Put it all back together and installed the new belt...DONE !!! Works like a champ !!!

Spin cycle went out of balance frequently so ordered new springs and snubber ring. When pulling out washer to begin repair I notice a perfect black circle bearing perfectly centered about the washer foot print on the floor under the washer. It was a greasy substance that I was able to remove with a degreaser. What is going on? And do I need additional parts or repairs? Thank you.

Hi Tom, thank you for contacting us. You may need to check the drum support roller kit, part number PS1570070, to fix the issue. It holds the drum in the proper position while it spins on the support wheels. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
