This is a control bracket for your refrigerator, and may also be known as the dispenser control bracket. The function of this part is to be used as a fastener to hold the micro switches and the light socket in the freezer dispenser section in place. Its measurements are roughly 9 inches long and 5 inches high, and this model comes in white. The tools you will need in order to make this installation include a Phillips screw driver, a quarter-inch nut-driver, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. If your ice dispenser is not working properly, your bracket could be the problem.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.

it wazs a simple disasembly and reasembly and really shocked me how frast it went all plug and play .
it took me longer to correct the problem because i started to troubleshoot inside the freezer.checked the door switch ,solenoid and gear motor.they all were good ,than i went to control panel on the front door. removed front cover and found broken pins on the control bracket. ordered a new control bracket , installed a new bracket and the ice dispenser is working again. to install a new bracket it took me 15 minutes
I pulled the cover off the icemaker and water dispenser in the front door. Unplugged the wires, pulled out the old control bracket, put the new one in, reconnected the wires, put the cover back on. Everything works fine now. All it was was a broken piece of plastic that would not trigger the switch to run the ice dispenser.
Replaced the entire part which dispenses water and ice. Good as new. Cost to repair it ourselves less than $20 for postage and part. Sure beats the $85 service charge with an additional charge for the part needed, the repairman wanted to come out and fix it.
Removed front plate of fridge, Disconnected wire harness and slid bracket out. replaced bracket and connected everything and put back plate water worked immediatley.
The control bracket that holds the switches to dispense the water and ice broke. I live in Florida I can't live without the ice dispenser and filtered water. I was informed by Whirlpool that they did not sell the idividual parts and that I would need to buy a new door for $700. Fustrated I searched the internet and PartSelect had exactly what I needed and $22 later I had my water and ice back. Simple to install less than 10 minutes, excelent schematics. The part was delivered within 1 day, I wish I knew about PartSelect earlier I would have never gone thru the aggravation of 5 days without ice and water.
The bracket that held the micro switch had broken, I had to replace the cover brace assembly. The job went smooth.
Simply, removed covered took off parts, and replace on new part, rehooked replaced cover. It is a bit tedious removing the cover on the ice dispinser but it is slotted at top, sill pop off easily but be careful can break if you force it.
called in a repair company and they wanted to charge me $350.00 to repair it so I went on line and found some people had replaced the control bracket, so thought what can I loose? Ordered the part and replaced it within about 30 mins. Now it works perfectly!
removed front of control to find the control board broken. The switch was working ,but the broken part of the board would not allow the switch to work.
I searched the internet and found "partselect.com" put in my model number and they said the part that usually fails is the bracket that holds the micro switch, I proceeded to take the cover off (hardest part) it needed alot of downward pressure and snaps off. Sure enough the micro switch was loose, I ordered the part for $ 18 with shipping included, it arrived in 2 days and took about 10 minutes or less to transfer all the stuff from the old bracket to the new bracket. THANKS ! !
follow the above directions. The front panel is very tight. You have to pull it use a fair amount of force to get it off. Same with pulling the wires apart. Part number 8 had fallen off. It is shorter than the diagram shows.
removing the cover and replaced panel that hold the switch, and problem fixed
