To release the knob, pull the plastic tab on the back of the timer.
The timer controls most of the operations of the washer: water level, tub filling and emptying, length of cycles, and cycle setting sequences.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
stared at the replacement part a bit to see how it should lock here/ or slot there / or snap in --recognized up front the hard part would be removing the knob without a specialized tool (part of timer snaps into outer knob for "pull/push" functionality) -top area back panel came off easy, once I did get the knob removed then the rest was quite easy. --and timer slid in on one side shifted right for a bit, then snapped in --knobs when back on easily (didn't strip out knob when removing old timer) -- wire harness slid out of the old with the help of a screwdriver-- and slid onto the new one easily (before snapping part in place).Overall- lots of fun having a working washer that still really cleans clothes --scared of new ones after reading the Wall Street Journal on recent failures to clean in brand new machines.
