This motor pulley is only an inch high and is two and a half inches in diameter. It is all black in color and is made entirely of plastic.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
First, I looked at the site for instructions on what was wrong, it explained in full detail what and how to remove and replace. We called a local Maytag dealer and told them the part number that the site told us to order and they told us we needed a whole new motor with the plastic motor pulley. they told us the part does not come separate, so we went back to the site and ordered a $6.00 part and paid a small s/h charge and when it came in we went back to the site to see how to put it back together and the instructions were perfectly awesome. The $6 part is what we actually needed not the $178 complete motor that the dealer told us we had to buy. Thanks for this wonderful site it saved us lots of money. this is the 3rd time we order from this site and the instructions we correct all 3 times, I would recommend this site to all who has a home with repairs! No one would sell me just the plastic pulley,they said that I had to buy the whole motor.160.00 dollars.I keep searching and found partselect.com and they had the pulley on line.I had my part in two days for about 12.00 dollars and it took about 5 min. to install.Just had to tap it lightly with small hammer to move it up the rod to fit in groves.Thank-you partsselect for being honest. The drain pump assembly was going bad. It eventually froze and burned the drive belt and motor pulley up. I replaced the drain pump by removing 3 screws. I replace the motor pulley and belt in about 5 minutes without removing any parts. Simple fix. Ran through 3 cycles and works perfectly. Thanks!
Hardest part was removing front panel to access the motor. Removed front panel, Tilted washer with block under the front. Removed belt. Used pully puller to remove damaged pully. Tapped on new pully with 1/2 in socket until shoulder seated on motor shaft. Replaced belt and front panel. Runs as smooth as new now. Additional note: I removed the plastic guard over the top of the motor and held an additional socket on the top of the motor shaft to avoid internal damage to the motor while tapping the new pully on the lower shaft.
The reason for the belt not turning was because of a cover in the water pump pulley which did not allow the water pump to rotate and that's why the belt and the plastic motor pulley burn out. First I removed that cover and then removed the belt, the pulley was easy simply by breaking all the little teeth with a screwdriver then the pulley can be remove by using a screwdriver as a lever. putting the pulley, simply use a plastic hammer so it does not get damage be patient. finally the belt and you are done, hopefully this will help someone.
I used a small screw driver to remove the teeth from the motor pully and fit the puller on the pulley with a small socket protecting the end of the shaft. it came off easily with a few turns on the puller. I placed the new motor pulley on the shaft and tapped it into place with a small dead-blow mallet (a hammer with a hollow, heavy, plastic head filled with sand). Unfortunately, the spin /transmission shaft pulley was an incorrect part for the application and the motor turned out to have some internal heat damage. I was not able to apply this part because it was the wrong application but if it is you are in luck. The clip removal is the same and install this pulley flat side down and reassemble. If not, read on. I removed the motor by removing the front panel, removing the three bolts securing the motor to the plate, and disconnecting the wiring plugs and ground wire. I lucked out finding a spin pulley and motor rebuild kit locally. After rebuilding the motor with the new bushings, brushes, etc. from the kit, I reinstalled it by reversing the removal steps. I then removed the spin/trans pulley by removing a plastic grease cup/cover from the end shaft and removed the C-clip and washer holding the pulley in place with a small screw driver. I was careful not to let the pulley and washer/thrust washer stack on top of it fall off so I could be sure of the order in which they should be reinstalled. I applied fresh grease and reversed the disassembly proceedure making sure to drive the C-clip fully into the slot on the shaft with a large flat-tip screwdriver and the mallet. I cleaned, regreased, and reinstalled the grease cup/cover back into place firmly making sure it snapped into place. I slipped the belt back on the pulleys and reinstalled the front panel with the two screws at the top inside corners. The job was done.
took hammer,screwdriver,cut old one off then took the newone and aline it up on spline put socket over it drove it on.a little at a time untell the lock on the end whent in the groove. done thank you. ps you dont have to buy a motor with pully.
First our local store said you had to buy the whole motor. I didn't. I bought the pully from you guys and took pliers and pulled the broke pully off and put a socket on there and hit it with a hammer and then she washes.
I used two pry bars to evenly and gently remove old pulley then I gently hammered new one in place and reinstalled belt.
Remove screws holding backplate, reomved backplate. removed belt and pully, replaced pully, replaced new belt, returned backplate and screws. worked great
Used piliers and screwdriver to remove old pulley.When putting on the belt make sure you have it tight enough.I had to buy a new pulley and do it over.

I just put the pully on then put the belt on and started washing clothes thank you very much for your help in getting me the pully in a timely matter aloha

Just tipped it back pulled the pulley off (the little plastic tits on the shaft just break off) the belt comes off easy. Carefully tap the new pulley on using a little grease or petroleum jelly on the splines before hand. The belt goes on easily when you slide the motor over. Just force the belt onto the big pulley just as you would on your car.Problem was... the new belt and pulley burnt right up again when it tried to agitate after filling. So the motor was turning fine, and the pump shaft was turning fine, but the agitator (tranny) must have been locked up. Its pulley (the big one) would spin in one direction but was locked in the other when I checked it. Not knowing any better, I assumed that was normal. I still don't know if it is or not. That's the problem with these chat sessions...One guy says it should spin freely both ways another says it should be somewhat difficult to spin, you don't know if the control has to be set in a certain spot before checking. I gave up just going to buy another. This time a direct drive, although it doesn't make any difference there all junk.
