THE SHUTE WAS FREEZING UP BLOCKING THE ICE FROM DROPPING
Using the Ice Door Kit we replaced the parts from the kit. There were a could of tricky things that were not in the video. The face of the freezer above the ice maker came down "like a guillotine" on my husbands hands so I recommend taping it to the top of the door prior to removing the whole door unit. He said it was also more complicated getting the pin off so this took some time and ours did not look anything like the ones in the video. Also, there was quite a bit of mold which took some time to clean out all the way before reassembly. Glad we did it though! Our fridge is still beautiful Stainless Steel and we paid extra for Counter Depth so this was a say cheaper alternative than replacing the whole thing.

Attaching ice door to hinge assembly-only works one way
My model is not exactly as described in you video (a: the power assembly is snapped in, not bolted on; b) the door hinge is snapped into place, not pushed through a hole in the bracket). One mistake I made was snapping the hinge assembly on the new ice door upside down. I quickly realized my mistake when the door would not close when installed. It may be obvious, but you may want to point this out in the next version of installation video. Regards.

Frost and ice build up in freezer; could get only crushed ice-no cubes
I followed the video provided with the email confirmation for my order. There was one difference with my installation. The video said to remove the pin by pushing to the left. In my case, the right end of the pin had a head on it and pushing it to the left was not possible. I had to remove a "keeper" on the left end of the pin and remove it to the right. Also, the chute/dispenser arm did not remove easily, so I left it in place. Finally, I did not reinstall the heating element as directed by the video since the website said this was no longer necessary. Overall, the repair fixed the problem and I am very happy with my experience with this site

Original plastic brackets holding ice door kit were broken.
Door gap occurred, creating a flow of warm air into the ice bin, the ice constantly melted and refroze into one block. This rendered the unit unusable. The paper instructions that come with the kit show very poor photos. I followed the instructions on the video noted below. The only problem with the repair kit is that it does not contain the tinnerman clip that secures the pin in the brackets. However, it seems to be holding without it. And in any case if something goes wrong, I'll check that part first. Joan. Fortunately, this video was available online: Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Chute Door (part #WP2180353)-

Right hinge broken broken on housing of ice dispenser door flap. Had to make a Mini hinge part to hold rod which holds flapper spring in place
After fabricating a new part to hold the spring rod in place, so the dispenser flap would close tightly in place. Every thing else to reassemble was very easy.

Was not dispensing ice
PLEASE UNPLUG REFRIGERATOR FIRST. Through You Tube, removed the ice door parts and carefully replaced all the components with use of a screw driver. Cover detaches from the bottom and move upward when loose. May have silicone around cover. Once complete attach cover back on. The inside of the freezer door right under the ice container you need to remove the guard and looking up under it you will see the cover with 2 screws, remove and ice auger drive motor will be exposed. carefully drop down and unplug electrical feed band and replace with the new one and push up again, screw back cover and done. IT IS WORKING BEAUTIFULLY!!

Ice dispenser freezing up, dispenser door not closing completely.
First off, if you have the stainless steel panel inserts on your refrigerator you'll need to remove those to do this repair. I kept looking for the access holes on the underside of the dispenser panel that you're supposed to insert a screwdriver into to pry it off. It wasn't until I removed the freezer door handle, slid the lower stainless panel insert out, and removed the rail just beneath the dispenser that I could see and access these holes. I also removed the upper stainless panel and rail just above the dispenser to allow enough movement get the dispenser cover off and out. The rest of the repair is pretty straightforward. The old ice door was beaten up and not closing completely, this was letting warm air into the freezer which was melting and re-freezing. This kit fixed the problem.

Hi Randall, thank you for your question. You may have to replace your door kit or the ice lever itself however I would suggest you take a look at the parts to determine which one is broken on your appliance. Good luck with your repair.

My ice maker works well making ice, i just cant get it to come down thru the dispenser. When we removed the ice basket one of the long parts broke off, still have a spring that we can put it back together but unable to get the blue button to work to help with removal of the ice basket. Not sure what i need to get this fixed.
For model number ED5PBAXV700
PartSelect logo
Hello Doreen, thank you for your question. Sometimes the blue button will get water and ice inside and won't press in enough to release the ice bucket. We would recommend using a hair dryer to warm up the ice bucket so that it can be removed for inspection. Once that is removed you will want to check the ice bucket for broken parts as well as where the bucket slides down into. Sometimes, the shaft, and coupling sleeve will break and need to be replaced. I hope this helps!

The water dispenser on the refrigerator begin to drip and would not stop. I turned off the water supply. What part is malfunctioning?
For model number SS25AFXLQ01
PartSelect logo
Hello Robert, thank you for your question. That problem is most likely caused by the water valve sticking open. We would recommend replacing the water inlet valve first, which is PartSelect Number: PS3497634. If that does not fix the issue, the problem could be with the dispenser tube which is Part #: PS886371 or the micro switch which is Part #: PS11738948. Good luck with your repair.

In the ice door replacement kit, it says heater is no longer needed so it does not include the heater strip. In the attached video it shows using the existing heater strip. Which requires you to peel back factory set gasket in order to install. So my question is....is the heater not needed or is it needed? if needed, why wouldn’t the kit include it. if not needed, why does the video show re-installing it. please advise
For model number KSRB25FKSS04
PartSelect logo
Hello Scott, thank you for your question. The heater ribbon is no longer needed and therefore will not be included with this part. If you can remove the old heater and install it into the new part that is fine, however due to the improved foam design it is not required. I hope this helps.
