This ice and water filter fits all Whirlpool and KitchenAid refrigerators with a water filter located in the base grill, below the refrigerator door. This part will also fit any Kenmore models starting with 106. This filter is NSF certified, and is meant to filter for taste and odor, sediment, chlorine, and lead. The filtering provides overall better tasting and higher quality water. For best results, it is recommended to change your ice and water filter every six months or 200 gallons of filtered water. For better filtering, try the PS373105 filter. There are no tools required for this repair.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
After researching the problem on parts select I found that there were several reasons why the ice maker would stop working. The number one reason was the electronic sensors fail, these tell the ice maker when ice bucket is filled. The light on the electronic eye will blink a code to diagnose the if there is a problem with the sensor. In my case the sensor was bad(the red sensor light would not stay on). The light transmitter is on the right and the reciever is on the left. First make sure there is nothing blocking the holes by cleaning them with a "q" tip. If they still don't work and the blinking code indicates failure them they need to be replaced. The sensors are behind panels on the left and right; each panel had 3 screws that need to be removed. First shut off power to the frig. Once you remove the screws you will find a quick connect attached to a electronic board on each side. Unplug each board and replace with the new part. Replace the panels and turn on the frig to test. The instructions in the parts box will tell you the light codes that will indicate that the boards are working. One note, I did this repair , the sensors were working and I did not get ice after 30-60 minutes.I found out that the water fill tube(black tube at the top of icemaker) was clogged with frozen water thus the ice tray never filled. After clearing out the ice with a small pipe cleaner the ice maker tray fill with water and the ice maker made ice on schedule.

Took food off the shelves.Removed broken shelves.Installed new Shelves.Could not replace filter because I was not smart enough to buy the correct filter. I returned the filter and cracked open a beer.Job Completed!
Simple replacement in 1 minute. Received exact factory part that allowed simple exchange.
Turned the icemaker off (lifted the wire up inside the freezer). Used a pliers to turn and take the circular cover off..located on the bottom of the refrigerator grill..it was tight. Pulled out old filter, put new one on..thats it! Simple. We had to reset the red light inside the refrigerator..pushed it, heard a beep, pushed again, got the green light.
very simple turned filter 1/4 counterclock wise removed insert new filter turned 1/4 turn clock wise finished
Took them off and fit the new parts in their place.
Twisted filted out from bottom of frig; removed cap and placed on new filter and pushed filter into bottom of frig and twisted clockwise to lock into place. Remove a few qts of water to clear new filter and reset light and was finished.
This was a very easy repair. The ice guide has 3 pegs that just clicked into the opening to position it. The ice and water filter was easy as well. I turned the water off because I was not sure if the water would leak when I removed it. One thing is to make sure you run the water for a while after installation to recharge the water line and to get all air out of the line, and to run the filter.
I washed the new shelf, took the food out of the old one, slid the new one into place and replaced the food. It took less time than opening the packaging! As for the filter, that's routine maintenance, which my son kindly did for me, as squatting to get to the floor-level filter is not as easy as it used to be.
simple procedure of turning knob at bottom of fridge 1/2 turn to left, removing old filter, inserting new filter and turning knob to right. Used pliers to turn knob. Part replaced by female of the house.
My repair tool less than a minute, but I just wanted to say how fast my parts got here. I only requested standard mail but the parts were here the next day. Thanks for your prompt service!
