The 40W lightbulb is found in the interior of your microwave, which will need to be replaced if you have noticed the light is no longer coming on after opening the door. The light bulb is clear in color and made of glass. For this installation, you will need a Phillips screw driver and utility knife. Before beginning, make sure to disconnect the power and wait a few minutes. Remove the two screws in the grove vent and set aside and then lift the grill vent forward and pull up to remove. The light bulb should be underneath a panel and may require the use of your utility knife to remove the silicone holding it in place. Line the new bulb up with the socket and screw into place until it is snug.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This light socket is designed for use in your microwave. The function of this part is to connect your light bulb to the power source, so the light works during operation. If you notice your light is not functioning, you may need to replace the light socket. Be sure to test your light bulb to see if that is the issue before replacing the light socket. This light socket is approximately 2 inches in width, and 1 inch in height. It is made of black plastic, and the appropriate light bulb will simply screw in to the housing. The part is sold individually.
I just removed the multiple screws which held the hood cover on. I then attempted to remove the light bulbs from the socket. This proved impossible because the bulbs were so fragile from the heat and grease build up. To make this task much easier and probably safer, just replace the bulb housing and light bulb. The bulb housing unplugs very easily. Just replace it then screw your new bulb in. P.S. Be sure to unplug appliance before you start. The filters are very easy to replace. No tools needed.Hope this helps.

FIrst I removed the glass bulb cover, old bulbs, and old filters. Then I removed the 6 screws that held the lower cover in place, and bulb sockets. Then washed all parts an reassembled with new bulbs and filters.
I had some difficulty removing the glass plate because of the awkward (upside down) position of the screw that retained it. After replacing the burned out bulbs and replacig the glass plate the problem of replacing the screw involved my dropping the thing several times before I got the screw threads to catch. I got a screw thread to catch enough to hold the glass plate in position and left it at that.
removed two screws, lowered the glass shield, removed the burned out bulb and replaced it with the new one. I ordered the bulb from parts select and recieved it two days later. It was a pleasure to deal with them, and certainly use them again.
screwed in new bulb
replaced the socket per recommendations on this web site. this did not correct the problem.
Unscrewed glass panel, removed old bulb, cleaned glass panel and installed new bulb. Screwed panel back into place.
