Hello Yvon, Thank you for your inquiry. The two defrost thermostats are PS1155320 and PS1015943 and they are located on the side of the evaporator coil, which you would access by removing the evaporator cover at the back of the inside of the freezer. Good luck with your repair.

My refrigerator get to cold and freezer not so cold .The defrost fan is working. My question is which thermostat should i replace main temp or defrost thermostat?
For model number HTS16GBRFWW
PartSelect logo
Hello Danny, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Defrost Thermostat. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps!

What is the different for defrost thermostats between PS1155320 and PS1015943 ? Are they same functioning? For my refrigerator I need to replace both of them or either one?
For model number GTH17JBD4RWW
PartSelect logo
Hello Jeffery, Thank you for your inquiry. We have researched the model number you have provided and show that your refrigerator uses both defrost thermostats wired in series with each other to check the temperature and keep the unit from overheating while it is defrosting. It is usually recommended to replace both if one is faulty. We hope this helps and if you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

My refrigerator is freezing the food will this part sole the issue
For model number Gts16bbsarww
PartSelect logo
Hello Gary, thank you for getting in touch. According to our research, the defrost thermostat that you have mentioned will not resolve the issue, as it protects the evaporator from overheating during the defrost cycle. In your case, there seems to be an issue with the air damper, part number PS963570, and it may need a replacement. However, we would also suggest checking the air vents for any blockage as well before the replacement. If food blocks the air vents, it may become exposed to cold air, which will freeze your items. You should also make sure to distribute food across the fridge and add enough items so that cold air does not settle at the bottom of the fridge. We hope this solves your problem!
