This part works with the following brands: GE, Hotpoint & Kenmore.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
I tried to shut the oven off and turn back on, but the display & oven would still not work. I ordered this part in hopes this would takecare of the problem. And it did. Others that installed this mention it's easy and only 4 screws and 4 more then thats it. Far from the truth on my model. Jdp39. Before you start working on the oven, you need to shut the power off, either unplug the unit or shut the circuit breaker off for it. You can find your model printed when you lift the top of the stove on the left side all the way in the back. My model had 6 screws to remove the inner cover. 2 on each side and 2 that hold the kick stand. Once all removed and placed aside, then remove the inner left top and bottom screws. There's 4. My model also has some black light metal shielding, more screws to remove 4 more. By now the inner display is visible. Looks complicated but really is not. My suggestion would be to study your oven, don't rush the process, clean as you remove parts never really exposed. Anyways follow the instructions exactly. The harness that comes with the kit will replace the one in your oven. Easy. The wire nuts provided in the kit will complete the install after you cut and strip the wires from your oven & appy and scew the wire nuts to join them - mine were the 2 white ones. The new harness will have color coded connectors. Simply do one by one. Make sure the connection to the pin is all the way in, yet be gental while pressing them in not to bend them. Needle nose pliers worked great for me. Once the harness is refitted with the new, remove the 4 screws that are holding your old display. I marked all the wires before I unplugged them from the old display. L1, N, etc.. The outter skin/ front display plate will need to be removed from the old display, cleaned and prepped for the new one. The new display is a little smaller but no cutting is required on the outer face piece, just match it up as best ad you can right over the buttons and prep it for install. Line it up and screw it in! Now the connections, the new unit is from the future and has better connections and is more efficient, this is explained with the provided instructions. Once all the connections are complete. Check everything make sure you put things back the way you found them. Screw in all the screws and test it. Apply power/ fusebox and watch a familiar site. The clock flashing 12:00 . My oven has been out for 2 months, felt lost and purchased a small toaster oven thing, but just wasen't the same; and new ovens drop in style are min of $800ish. This quick kit fixed it for me. I feel proud that I was able to complete this. The oven works perfect. I recently reopened it to inspect my work, signs of problems and I didn't see anything wrong. Good luck and remember you can do it. Thank you parts select! They simplified the install with setting you up with all parts needed to complete your task.

Took the old control unit out as instructed. Spread the wires out and replaced the harness. Then I moved the other wires from the old unit to the new unit one wire at a time per the instructions. Quite simple and easy. Hardest part was reinstalling the unit in the stove with the tiny screws ge used !!! Had some trouble reading the instructions - poor copy. Took over an hour because of coffee and telephone calls !!
Repair was not too bad, took a little longer than I thought it would. Sending only a faded black and white instruction sheet really didn't speed up the process. After all together everything worked but the bake element would not heat. I switched the two connections on the bake connection and all was fine! READ slowly and do exactly what is in print, do not try to figure out the picture.
I lifted the stove top and removed controller cover (4 screws); then removed controller (4 screws). I followed the enclosed instruction sheet to retrofit wiring harness. This required removing the old harness, stripping wires and connecting wires using supplied wire nuts. Then I installed the new controller and put cover back in place. Very easy.
Removed old panel, determined part #, ordered part online. Once part arrived, reviewed accurate instructions provided with part, installed part. Completed installation and test within 1 hour.
Clock replacement was straight forward and easy. What took the time was trying to take the clock/control panel off. It was a slide in range and I hadn't planned on sliding the whole thing out. Need insructions showing the raising of the cook top and removal of control panel assembly.
Was very difficult to be certain of the right controller due to the exact model number of the range did not exist. Somewhat of an expensive part to make a guess. After contacting no less than 5 parts dealers, Part Select was the only company that could immediately identify the correct number, (the model # on the range had an extra zero in the middle). Was able to purchase the part confident it was correct, at a good price, with fast shipping. Thanks
I removed the front oven control panel which is a lot easier than it sounds. Essentially you end up dismantling the stove to get to the control. That is the difficult part. Installing the replacement control is easy once you can get to the control. The instructions provided were easy to follow and the only reason the repair took more than two hours was the dismantling of the stove to get to the part and then reassembling the stove. The part works great and the only complaint I have is that the timer alarm is very faint. The original part had a very loud signal.
