This is the second replacement tray we have in installed. The first one ( Not From Here ) we had for less than 5 months, we made a bag of popcorn, and about 5 minutes later we heard a crash, not knowing where the noise came from we dismissed it. The next day we opened the microwave a saw the plate had shattered. So we hope that this will not do the same thing.

set the table on the support ring

While attempting to get some from the cabinet above my microwave, a guest accidently pulled on the top grill vent and caused the plastic screw tap to crack and break leaving the grill vent hanging.

I first went back Lowe's where I purchased my microwave in the hopes they would help in the ordering of the grill vent for my mircrowave. They advised me that they do not order parts and gave me a card of a company to call to order the part. I called the number on the card and was left on hold for 20 minutes then instead of helping me with the part I needed they proceeded to set up an appointment for someone in my local area to come to my home, order the part the later install. I knew that it was just 2 screws and bottom snaps to install and I didn't want to wait a week for someone to come to my home. I then went direct to the Whirlpool web-site and found "Partselect.com". I was unable to match my model# even though my microwave was only 13 months old but knew it was probably interchangeable with another so I then called "Partselect.com" and was just amazed at how helpful and knowledgeable the gentleman on the other end was. He found my part and was very patient in describing it to me to assure that it was the correct one. I was on the phone less than 10 minutes with him. The part came in 3 days and was the correct part:) It took me less than 5 minutes to gently snap the 2 bottom tabs in and screw in the left and right tabs on top. Thank you so much "Partselect.com" for making what could have been a timely and expensive part replacement be so very simply and inexpensive.

Oven buzzed and no heat

  • Customer: Joseph from Saint Charles IL
  • Difficulty: Difficult
  • Time to Complete: 1- 2 hours
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Socket set

First took down the hood/microwave and removed the sheet metal housing.
I changed HV diode as it was the least expensive component and the first one that internet suggested and tested bad with a ohm meter. Didn't fix a thing.
Capacitor failed test with meter so I ordered and then replaced this.
Still no change so I ordered a new magnetron.
Now I have over $100 invested in a 9 year old oven but a new one is three times this so if my time is free I am still ahead.
The magnetron may be the first part installed onto the oven. To remove the old magnetron and install the new the top plastic vent hood moldings and motor had to be removed. Pretty straight forward but not a little amount of work.
The new magnetron did the job and the oven now heats like new.

The nightmare was that this microwave is installed under the cabinet....in order to get to the light bulb I had to pull out my stove then squeeze into the space between the stove and counter....my old microwave light bult was much easier to change.....Shame on Whirlpool for making this so difficult.....must be a better way to cover the light bulb so that we do not need a screwdriver to remove the door to get to the light bulb

Burned out light bulbs in microwave hood stove

  • Customer: Herbert from Norton MA
  • Difficulty: A Bit Difficult

  • Tools Required: Screw drivers

I had some difficulty removing the glass plate because of the awkward (upside down) position of the screw that retained it. After replacing the burned out bulbs and replacig the glass plate the problem of replacing the screw involved my dropping the thing several times before I got the screw threads to catch. I got a screw thread to catch enough to hold the glass plate in position and left it at that.
