Thermostat, Internal-Bias

A cycling thermostat is in tune with the temperature of your dryer and regulates it in order to maintain a certain temperature. This thermostat reaches a temperature of 155 degrees and will then turn off and then on again once it has dropped by 25 degrees. If your dryer is not giving off enough heat, is over-heating, is not turning on, or is having issues with the timer functionality, this could indicate an issue with the thermostat. The installation of the cycling thermostat is simple and the only tool required is a 1/4 inch nut driver (and gloves for safety).

Agitator Directional Cogs

Agitator directional cogs, otherwise known as dog ears, come in a package of four and are generally found in washers where the motor is connected directly to the washer. The agitator is what causes the thrusting motion in your washer. If you have noticed that your washer is not draining properly, is making unfamiliar noises, shaking, or is simply not washing properly, it could be due to faulty agitator directional cogs. They can be found by simply removing the softener dispenser and then removing the agitator cap. For this repair, you will need a 1/4 or a 3/8ths socket set, and needle nose pliers.

Idler Pulley

The idler pulley with tri-ring and gasket, also known as a dryer belt tension pulley wheel, is used in dryers. This part maintains the right amount of tension for the belt to rotate the drum. This effectively spins the drum. If your dryer is experiencing any of the following symptoms, it is best to replace this part: not rotating, does not start, making squealing noises when it is in use, or it does not tumble properly. For this repair project, the tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver, 1/4 inch nut driver, putty knife, small flat blade screw driver, and needle nose pliers. Clutch Assembly

A clutch assembly is found in your washing machine and is responsible for spinning the basket during the spin cycle. A worn-down clutch can lead to a slower spin which can lead to the machine not draining properly, leaving your clothes wet after a cycle. If you notice a burning smell, or the machine shaking and moving more than normal, this could indicate the need to replace your clutch. This clutch assembly comes with a brake cam driver, blue springs for large capacity washers, and a black spring for compact washers. As per the factory, the green spring (1.24 inches) replaces the black spring (1.46 inches). This repair requires a half inch 1/16th socket with an extension and a ratchet, a pair of channel lock pliers, a Phillips screwdriver, medium size flat blade, a small flat blade, and a 1/4 inch nut driver.

The job looked intimidating but turned out to be very easy.
First take off the water pump by removing the two clips that hold it in place. Place a shallow pan under the pump to catch the water that is in the pump and hoses. Open the hose clamps with a pair of pliers or channel locks (better) and slide the hoses off of the water pump.
