The heat on out dryer slowly stopped working over a period of time. The dryer works as normal but with no heat irregardless which heat setting we use or timer cycle chosen. I checked the exhaust which goes directly from the back of the dryer out the 10" exterior wall. It is clear. I then pulled the back off of the dryer as seen in your videos (great help). I pulled the lint chase and it had no blockage. I cleaned and recattached it. I then did a continuity check on the following, 1 heating element, 2 thermal fuse, 3 thermal cut off, 4 thermostat internal bias, and 5 thermostat high limit. All showed continuity. What is next, timer and heat setting?

Hello Jeff, Thank you for your inquiry.Yes, those would be the next parts to check and we would also recommend checking the heating element connection wire kit, door switch, seals, and also check to see if you may have an incoming power problem. Electric dryers need two legs of 120 volts AC equaling 240 volts. It is not uncommon for only one fuse or breaker to trip resulting in the dryer able to run, but not heat. The fuse box or circuit breaker should be checked or voltage measured at the outlet using a multi-meter. Hope this helps!

If ohmmeter is placed between blue and violet fins (off of switch itself) should there be continuity in all three switch positions?

What should the resistance be at each of the three temperature switch positions on temperature control switch 3396013?

My dryer has high heat all of the time, you cant adjust the temperature to a lower setting. Will the tempature selector swith, part number wp3399639 fix this problem.

The temperature selector switch might fix this, however, it certainly sounds like it could be a faulty cycling thermostat PS11741405 and/or possibly a malfunctioning high limit thermostat PS11742185

So i decided to check the temperature setting switch. I disconnected the purple and blue wires from the timer. These are the two wires coming from the temperature control switch. I then did a continuity check on the purple and blue wires. I thought it should show continuity when the temperature control switch was on the low, medium, and high settings. It only showed continuity when the switch was on the medium setting. Would this indicate a faulty temperature switch?

You just responded to my question. Here is my model number. Dryer stays on when door shut. Settings knob gradually stopped working. For a while it would turn on for only part of the cycle.

I only get continuity (0.3 ohms) with the selector set to "low". No continuity with the selector set to any other positions ("medium or high"). Is this typical of the temperature selector switch?

Hello Austin, Thank you for the question. To test the switch you will need to run the dryer with a load of clothes until it loses heat in the cycle, then test for 240v L1-L2 at the rear terminal block, if you still have 240v the switch is good. Hope this helps!

Have no heat on my Whirlpool dryer,took off back panel and temp control switch wire was fried.

Hi Pete, thank you for your question. Then that is likely what your issue is. However there are a few other parts that you should take out and test to see which one is giving you the issue. The first parts to check in this case would be all of your thermostats and thermal fuses. You can test those parts with a multi meter and they should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. If those parts are fine, you should then go on to testing your heating element as well. You can also test that with a multi meter and it should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms. Something else you should also check would be your filter and ducts. Make sure there is absolutely no blockage that would restrict air flow in your appliance. I hope that helps.
