This is a micro switch, which is also known as a door switch for your microwave. The main reason for needing to replace this part is if you are not getting heat to your appliance. The door switch is located behind the front panel of your appliance. When the appliance door closes, this part will make contact with the door hook, which will allow the microwave to heat. Use caution when making this installation, as high-voltage capacitors found in microwaves can hold a lethal electric charge for longer periods of time, even if the appliance has been unplugged. It is recommended you wear work gloves for this repair.

Why a tenant would remove and discard the grease filters without replacing them is beyond me! But, I removed the filters from the package and slid them into place. Two minutes tops.
