I need to replace the spark module on my Whirlpool gas stove, but can't figure out how to remove the cover to get to the spark module. This stove has four sealed burners and i was told to turn them counter clockwise to remove, but mine don't turn at all. Thanks for your help.
For model number SC8640EDQ3
Hello Mark, thank you for your question. For the cooktop units, the easiest way to replace the spark module, per other customers, is to remove the unit from the countertop and turn it over after removing the caps and grates. The bottom cover can be removed and the spark module replaced from that area. I hope this helps.

I used a screwdriver to pry the electrode assy. out of the burner. then disconnected the wire. Then just connected the new electrode and place the assy, in the burner.
My husband and I replaced the igniter module, following directions we found online. We removed the old one, replaced it with the new one, and thankfully everything is working great!
Disconnected gas & electric connections; lifted unit out of countertop onto padded table upside down. Unscrewed ~16 sheet metal screws for access. Removed bad ignitor by driving off retaining clip. Had to remove burner (3 screws) for access to install retaining clip on new ignitor. Reassembled, reinstalled. Works like new!
