RK38*J1 Hotpoint Wall Oven - Instructions

(1) Disconnected all electrical power to the unit; (2) Re-moved two screws holding the element to the wall of the oven; (3) Carefully pulled the element forward, exposing two screws attaching the element to the power source; dis-connected those screws which totally released element from the oven. (4) Attached the new element to the power source via supplied screws, replacing the unit into it's original position; (5) Attached the new element to the wall of the oven; (6) Re-connected electrical power to the unit.

Unplugged stove. Pulled stove out. Took the two screw out of the back took the shield off. Loosened up the screws on the element in the back the opened oven door and unscrewed the two screws on the inside holding the element in then pulled the element out and put the new one in. Put the new element in put the two screws in then go to the back put he wires back with the screws tighten down then put the shield back on remember the screws to hold shield plug back in push stove back.

Repairman wanted $175.00 for the bake element plus installation to repair the in-laws oven. I went to PartSelect's website and for $35.00 delivered, and in under 15 minutes time, had her up and running for her holiday baking. I first unplugged the oven, removed the 2 screws holding the element in place, pulled it forward and unhooked the 2 wires attached in the rear. I put the new element in the oven, attached the 2 wires, set the element in place and replaced the 2 screws securing it to the oven.

Removed old parts with nut driver and installed new part. Don't forget to unplug before working on unit. Very easy repair can be done by anyone who can read and understand instructions

Unplug oven, and remove the wiring cover on the back of the oven, unscreen the screws attaching the wires to the element leads and pull the element out. Put new element in and screw on the wires and reinstall the wiring cover. All done less than 15 minutes.

I chickened out and had a friend do it for me so it was real easy.

Repair was very easy. The instructions on Partselect.com with the item ordered described exactly what to do. I followed the instructions and it works great. Used socket wrench to remove the two screws holding the bake element bracket to the oven wall. Pulled the element out. Used a screwdriver to remove the wires from the old bake element. Use a screwdriver to put the new wires on the new bake element. Pushed the bake element back into place. Used a socket wrench to tighten the oven bracket to the oven wall. Done. Turned on the oven. Worked Great!!!.

Was looking at $1000 to replace range. Found the part for $30 with shipping. Just need to pull range out and have access to front and rear. AND UNPLUG FROM OUTLET (I also cut power at the box. That's just me) From rear, remove 2 screws holding on vertical cover and remove cover. Remove screws holding wires to element leads. From the front, open door 1/4 way then lift off of hinges. This makes reaching into the oven box easier. Remove two screws holding element to the back wall and remove. Insert new element. Go to back and use new screws that came with element to connect wires Make sure insulation is in place and replace cover. From the front re-connect element to back wall and make sure both feet are level on oven floor before tightening. Put oven door back on, plug in and test. Once tested push range back into place. Whole thing took 20 minutes.

the screw driver I used had several different nut driver sizes so that was the only tool I used. I took the 2 screws that held the element inplace and then there were 2 more that held the wires on to element.

Took the 3 knobs out of the bag and slid them on . Perfect fit no problems.

Removed the two screws that held the bake element retainer in place and then pulled the bake element into oven to remove two screws holding the wiring attached to the end of the old bake element. Pulled bake element retainer over new bake element. Attached wiring to new bake element with screws supplied. Pushed end of new bake element into place and attached bake element retainer to oven with the two original screws. Done in about 5 minutes.

We unplugged the range. My husband removed the burned element and installed the new element. There was no problem either way. The worst part was getting up and down from the floor. He is 87 years old and doesn't bend like he did 20 years ago. Now if someone would clean the oven for me, it would be great.

Our son unplugged the stove, took a socket fitting the nuts and pulled the old bake element out. He then put the new one in plugging up the wires and screwing the nuts back in. Plugged in stove and works perfect!

Reatached to the oven white and black wire connection to the element with the screws provided in 10 minutes.

This oven is really weird and is approximately 50 years old. We would have had to do a significant renovation to get another stove/oven into the space. I had to use a drill to remove the old element and had to drill new holes to screw in the new element. I measured the old element and was lucky to find one that was compatible. Thanks!
