Igniter Glows but no heat in Oven or Broiler
Tripped Circuit for the stove. Removed Oven Door and racks. Removed 2 screws at back of oven and removed oven bottom tray (floor). Removed the Broiler trays. Removed 2 screws from the pate at back of oven to get to the connections for the igniter. Disconnected wires for igniter. Removed 2 screws from the igniter and had to cut the 2 wires (to re-use connections). Using the wire nuts that came with the igniter, spliced the connections from the old ignter to the new one (making sure of the correct wire connections). Replaced the igniter in the reverse order. Total time 15 min. I did not have to disconnect the gas (or shut it off) or move the stove out to work on it.

End cap cracked. Tried to fix it with epoxy, but it didn't work.
Used screwdriver w/star bit to remove two screws (longer one on top). Removed cracked end cap. Placed new end cap into position, making sure all tabs were correctly aligned. Replaced screws (top one first)tightening them slowly & alternating back & forth so as not to crack the new part.

my oven would not bake.
The repair was quite simple re-move the baking racks. and oved door. open the oven too less then half way then pull the up.and it comes rite out. then remove the lower brawer. open the drawer more then half way look on the drawer slider.you will see two small white clips.one clip pulls up the oher one pushes down hold on to them and pull the drawer all the out.and its off.dont mess around and turn off the breaker or remove fuse from fuse box.now you are ready to replace the igniter. there are two small hex screws under the left side of the igniter remove and replace. on the old igniter fallow the two white wires they run behind the draw. use a flash light to see better.and replace acordingly. but every together the way you took it off. and bake....

Broiler worked but bake did not
I determined that the broil setting worked and it was just the bake function which was not working on my 8-year old Hotpoint range/oven. A quick search on the web brought me to PartSelect where I found excellent advice and instructions. My model oven has two igniters, one for broil and one for bake. I removed the bottom igniter which is for the bake function. I didn't even need to unhook the gas or get behind the range. I did remove the oven door for easier access. Because I have a multi-meter I did test the igniter just to be 100% certain it was shot, following an instructional video I found online. I ordered the replacement and the installation was fast and easy. My oven works perfectly again.

oven igniter
Not too hard. The hardest part was taking the old igniter out. There are two screws to take off, but getting at them was very hard. I could put a socket on it , but I couldn't put the ratchet on because the space you are working with is so tight. Luckily I had a very small wrench I was able to get on the small screw. After that the rest was pretty easy. I read what to do on this website and everything went pretty smooth. Except for when I was putting the new igniter on I put a socket on the screw to screw it in and it fell off in between the door and oven and dropped down there somewhere. I tried to find it with a flash light , But it's gone for good. I had another socket so I was able to screw it in with my spare. Luckily where it fell I don't think it affects the stove. My stove works great now and I'm very happy. It was nice to read how to fix it on line.

oven would not heat but broiler and stove top did
I removed the racks, bottom of the oven, and the access panel underneath. I removed the old igniter and wired in the new one. Remounted it and replaced the parts. It took me longer to take off/replace the screws for the oven bottom and access panel than it did to actually replace the part. Very easy job.

uneven heating of oven
This repair was super easy. I removed the two screws holding the oven sensor in place, pulled the sensor from the oven wall to expose the two wires attached to the sensor cut and spliced in the new sensor as per instructions. The supplied wiring kit made this splice very easy. I then reinserted the wires and sensor from the oven wall, put the screws back in place tested the oven. Oven now works like new and I got bonus points from a happy wife!

oven failed to light
Removed door easy just lift off hinges, remove bottom drawer, remove racks and burner cover at the bottom (two slotted screws in back). Igniter visible on right side of the burner tube. However, it is mounted below the burner tube making it difficult to reach the two screws that hold it to the flange on the burner tube becasue there is no space between the lower burner cover and the burner tube. I tried removing the lower cover (several screws but didn't not come out. However one of the screw held the burner tube in the front. With the screw removed the tube raised up enough to get the the igniter's screws actually 1/4 hex head bolts - no room for nutdriver so used a socket. Wprked but very awkward reaching in with one hand but doable. Wiring was simple just put new leads through the holes in the back of the lower cover and make the connection underneath. The hard part was putting screws back in the ingniteer - unfortunately there are holes directly beneath the igniter and there is a second layer below the burner tube cover which neatly caught the screws as they slipped out of my socket. No way to retrieve them. So I tried the new screws that came with the igniter but they were too long and hit the burner tube before they got tight. To save a trip to the hardware store mid-repair I added two small washerse under the head of the new screw to keep it from hitting the tube. Worked ok and oven fired up immediately when turned on the oven. Another hint be careful removing the burner cover at the bottom of the over ours was covered by blogs of burned grease that really messed up the floor and my not-so-good anyway pants. Jim
