Watch the video and then do the repair.

First of all, I am a woman and I don't have a lot of tools but I do like to try to fix things on my own before shelling out $ for a professional repair. I found and followed their YouTube video to fix the fridge. To begin with (before I even ordered the part) I needed to find out if it could be something other than the actuator pad that needed to be replaced so I took everything apart (pretty easy) and checked to make sure that the 'Limit switch' was clicking and able to be depressed by the tip of the actuator pad (the actuator pads connects with the Limit Switch which activates the ice flow). It did click. So I figured the Limit Switch was not the problem so I put everything back together and ordered the actuator pad. When it arrived I was already a pro at knowing what needed to be done. I had it replaced in about 15 minutes and its working great!! Thank you so much for your videos on You Tube. I wouldn't have known what to do. You saved me a bundle of money!! Blessings to you all. The icemaker in my Maytag refrigerator was having a few problems. First, a small leak developed in the ice cube tray, allowing water to drip into the ice bucket. This of course caused the ice to become one solid mass, totally inappropriate for a gin and tonic. After a couple of months of this, it stopped working altogether. On to the internet I went, and discovered how easy this repair actually was. One nut to remove, one to put it back in. The installation video was very helpful. I did have a concern at first because the icemaker did not start making ice rights away. I thought it might be a defective unit. It took about 12 hours to get the first batch and it has been happily cranking out the ice since! Ed in upstate New York.

I followed the instructions that came with the kit.

Followed the video as a guideline. It was not exactly as portrayed. My husband and I, being long time do it yourselfer's, were able to get around the differences. There were screws, instead of tabs as pictured in the video, plus had to remove 4 screws instead of one to loosen the old icemaker. After 2 days the icemaker is pumping out loads of ice.

I followed the instructions from your video. I did this replacement all by myself. I am a 64 year old woman and have never done anything like this before. It could not have been any easier.

Replaced icemaker and used wire harnnes and plastic cover off old one. Real easy!!

The ice maker change out was easy. The problem was the part came with a different filler cup but the one needed was supplied. Changing to the other cup required taking the ice maker apart and installing the other filler cup. Go to the parts list and find the filler cup. Use instructions found there to change to other cup and then install your ice maker.

We put all the new parts in that came with this kit including the Solenoid. It was super easy. I have a home warranty which covered the refrigerator ice maker, however, it would have cost me $75 just to bring out a repairman and then it would have taken up my time to be around when he wanted to come out. Buying this part and doing the job ourself cost me less money AND time.

Like others who have done a superb job explaining this repair, I googled my way into this site, found an EXACT match for the problem I was having, which was a warm freezer/fridge where I could hear something trying to start up every few seconds.....a click.....a hum......and a click as it gave up. This process repeated itself. I ordered both the PTC relay and overload kit, AND the run capacitor since it was recommended by others that I replace the pair. Locating the compressor and accessing the wiring harness was easy. Replacement was a bit confusing for this first time Fridge repairman because the replacement parts are not identical, however the replacement is a 5 minute job once you know what you are doing. Taking off the old relay was simple with a flat blade against the compressor wiggling it off. Discovered a CHARRED relay. Replace it alone, Fridge fired right up and didn't seem to turn off, so I unplugged it only to find the clicking noise had resumed and the compressor was not engaging....so this time I replaced the run capacitor. Now everything worked great. Putting that black plastic cover back on looks and sounds so simple, however I struggled with it and have yet to compete it, but I will. Evidently it just snaps into place when you get everything in order. One comment I will make is that the new replacement part wiring includes a very convenient jumper because one of the leads is too small to fit on the compressor. Confusing at first, however makes perfect sense if you just follow the directions. Problem solved for under $100, and that included RUSH OVERNIGHT shipping!!! This store and the related stories on how to do the repairs....ROCK!

saw the youtube.com presentation, and followed the procedure from there on.

Installed part directly to compressor and placed new protective housing. Monitored temperatures for 3 days and verified proper function. Very easy install, part is not a one for one swap and as mentioned by others taking a little perceptive understanding to install.

removed old icemaker and transfer some of the parts to the new icemaker. The only problem was that I had to disasemable the new icemaker to replace the fill tray with the older style (which was included). Once that was done, installation was pretty easy.

I removed the old ice maker as described by the DIY video and had no problem except, I had to remove the ice tray from the motor section so the end cap could be changed. This only required removal of two Phillips screws on the case of the motor assembly, that are used to to secure the tray. Once the tray was off, the ice ejector could be removed and the end cap was free to change. Everything was re-installed in reverse order and unit was mounted. An FYI to anyone with slow ice making, will need to check their freezer temperature. Make sure it's set to get as cold as 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit. After installing new maker, it was not making ice fast enough, only to find my freezer temperature needed to be changed as well. Everything is working as it should now.

My husband put in in, no problem and all is well. My husband is a mechanic for large machinery/motors so installation was no problem. Thanks, better than buying a new fridge!!!
