Dryer runs, but no heat

Removed screws in hinges and on opposite side inside the door to remove the front panel.

You can put the door back on at this point to run the dryer with the burner exposed. At this point I could tell that the igniter was working and the gas valve would occasionally work so that burner would fire. The valve only seemed to work when everything was completely cooled down. I first replaced only the solenoid coils on top of the valve, this did not fix the problem. When I replaced the entire valve the problem was fixed.

Replacing the valve is easy.

1) Unplug dryer from wall outlet
2) Turn off gas supply cutoff valve
3) Remove door and front panel
4) Unplug wires from solenoid coil terminals. There are two coils on top of the valve body.
5) Remove gas line from valve body.
6) Remove two screws which secure the bracket holding the valve body and burner nozzle to the bottom of the dryer cabinet.
7) Remove two screws which secure the valve to the bracket.
8) Reverse the procedure for installation of new valve.

Dryer would only heat at start up for one cycle

Ohmed coils and both had continuity so I changed radiant heat sensor. No bench test for Radiant Heat sensor. Same problem. Changed both coils and dryer works fine. Weak coils were my problem. I read thru the same issues in Parts Select forum and it said Radiant Heat sensor was problem 25% of the time. With coils having continuity and no ohm value specified for coils I made wrong choice but, I have spare parts and look for another 10 years of life in the dryer. Nice to have this forum to research appliance repair. Very helpful for parts location and installation. Dishwasher is next!

baffle became loose and sensor stop working

Repair is very simple, all I had to due was remove 4 screws on door and closing side door. Remove door and take off front panel. Then I spun baffle down to right side by motor removing 2 screws , replaced short baffle. the sensor wires are locate right there . Simple disconect of 2 spade wires , 2 srews inside and unit comes out. Please remember to disconnect power and door lifts up maybe 1/2 inch when disconnecting. The baffle worked fine the sensor fixed lights , but did not dry clothes to my satifaction. Good Luck

Switch did not turn off dryer when door opened

Switch can be removed from outside of dryer and your video described the repair as having to work from inside dryer. But since wires were still attached to old switch, it could be popped out and wires switched. Since there were three wires on new switch to allow it to turn on and off a circuit, it was useful to check the resistance of the switch compressed or released to be certain I was attaching the two wires to the right two poles of the new switch. But that all required only a couple of minutes. Thank you.

I SUSPECTED A FAULTY IGNITER AND DISCONNECTED THE CABLE TO THE IGNITER AND MEASURED THE RESISTANCE OF THE IGNITER AND FOUND IT TO BE 70 OHMS THEN I CHECKED THE VOLTAGE AT THE SAME CABLE TOWARDS THE POWER SOURCE AND FOUND IT TO BE 25 VOLTS AC WHICH SHOULD BE 120 VOLTS AC. NEXT I CHECKED THE RADIANT FLAME SENSOR AND FOUND IT TO BE OPEN (IT SHOULD BE A CLOSED CIRCUIT WHEN COLD). I REMOVED THE FLAME SENSOR (WITH THE POWER OFF) USING A SMALL BOX WRENCH AND FOUND A BROKEN LEAD. REPLACING THE FLAME SENSOR SOLVED THE PROBLEM.

drum would not spin and would trip the overload protector

pulled the motor and replaced it and not having any issues since.

After initial ignition & first heat cycle, gas valve would fail to re-ignite

The good: No need to pull out dryer beyond point where (wall) gas valve could be shut off.
The gotcha: Be sure to wear thick leather gloves to protect your hands. I discovered sharp edges the hard way!
The tip: To loosen gas valve inlet nut and to remove gas pipe from valve, use a bottom-to-top wrench motion. Despite threads being right-handed, this counter-intuitive operation (the thinking is that you are tightening the nut instead of loosening it) is necessary due to nut being located on the valve rather than the gas pipe which reverses the context.
The ending: Wife is happy to be back in the drying business and I'm happy just to have her happy not to mention saving a little $ in the process! Thanks PartSelect.com!!!

Loud noise - missing baffle

1 - unscrewed door
2 - made a mess because the directions did not work for my dryer
3 - figured it out = eventually
4 - popped loose the front panel
5 - unscrewed metal bars (that were holding the top down in the front)
6 - lift front like a hood on a car
7 - unscrew the rest of the front until the drum was loose and I could get to the felt strip
8 - glue new strip on where the old strip was = to the front and back plates that hold the drum
9 - put it back together :)

Dryer was noisy and was taking a long time to dry clothes

The dryer disassembly was pretty straightforward. The drive belt slips over the drum and easily prys over the drive and idler pulleys. The drum seal is held in place with the existing metal tabs. The old drum glides had to be drilled out and the new ones pop rivited in easily. Overall a rather simple process and the dryer sounds and drys like new again for minimal expenditure and time. Probably would have cost $200+ had I had a service person do the work.

I simply went on line and ordered the part. I had it shipped to my office since I am here all day, M-F. I received the part in 2 days. I took it home, pulled out the old lint filter and slid in the new one. It is amazing how much more efficient my dryer is. The old lint filter had about a 6 inch tear in it so it was not catching all the lint.

Over the last year the 'start' button has had to be held to 'start' the dryer, with a humming noise during the process. Eventually it hummed, stank, and wounldn't start.

Yanked the front panel, observed motor operation while my smoking hot wife started the unit. Our washer and dryer get beaten like rented mules with kid laundry. I tried this site, and decided to spend a little $$ on a replacement motor. I was impressed with the operator, she even asked what the symptoms were and helped to avoid wasting time and money.
The part arrived on time, and installed quickly. I am a hero in my wife's eyes, and that certainly carries weight.
Then again, I didn't have to dispose of the old dryer, pay for a new one, or haul the replacement upstairs.

Thank you very much for your prompt service. This was so cool... On Monday night my wife told me the dryer was not heating. I did a basic diagnosis, checked the internet for parts and lowest price and found your site. I ordered the part I thought I may need and 2 days later the part arrived and the dryer is working again.

Loudly squealing dryer

Piece of cake. Use the available manual to ascertain dismantling procedure. Only thing that might be tough for average DIY'er is the internal snap rings. Snap ring pliers are mandatory for quick easy repair.
Total time was probably about 15 minutes and this was the first time I had taken it apart. Quiet as a mouse now!

Noisy and thumping drum

I set the dryer on its back to make alignment of the front drum guide cover easy to reinstall in the seal after completion. I removed the 2 screws at the bottom front then removed the white and yellow wires to the interlock switch and set the front cover aside. I then removed the 4 nut screws holding the front drum cover and removed. On the back side there are two teflon and cork "bearings". I had ordered two even though only one was worn down to metal. On each one I then removed the two rivets by drilling them out. Then I placed the corks into the bearing slots with a little glue then inserted the teflon into the slots and riveted them into place with the rivets that came with the kit. I replaced the drum cover, connected the switch and screwed the dryer front cover back on. I set the dryer back up. Connected the vent hose and turned the dryer on. Beautiful sweet smooth and quiet operation. I had replaced the front and back drum seals a few months ago and saw the teflon was missing but did not have the kits at that time. With a complete job I would recommend replacing the front and rear drum seals and the two teflon/cork bearing kits at the same time.

dryer wouldn't heat

First I unplugged the dryer. I shut off the gas line to the dryer. I opened the access door on the lower front of the dryer. I illuminated the interior of the dryer with a small flashlight that was mounted on two legs with magnets on the end to allow the light to be specifically directed. I took few digital pictures of the electrical connections to the dryer gas valve and the various sensors attached to the unit. I shut off the gas line valve to which the dryer gas valve was attached. I removed the two screws holding the dryer gas valve an lifted the unit out of the dryer. I vacuumed the inside of the dryer with an electric vacuum and also vacuumed the lint and dust off the gas valve I took out of the dryer. The flat style igniter was mounted on the front of the gas value. I removed two screws and took off the old flat style igniter. I reattached the new flat style igniter (carefully holding it by the ceramic mounting area to avoid breaking the igniter itself). I reinserted the gas valve into the dryer and reattached the two screws holding the gas valve into the dryer. I reattached the gas valve to the gas line in the dryer. I reattached the electrical connectors to the gas line and the sensors in the dryer. I turned the gas line in the house to the dryer back on. I plugged in the dryer and started it. No ignition.! I unplugged the dryer and reached in through the access door. I angled the flashlight to each of the sensors attached to the gas valve and the dryer electrical harness and pushed each one to make sure the electrical contacts were solid. When I checked the flame sensor ( a little box with a window mounted over a rectangle cut in the wall of the cylinder in which the flame burns when the gas is shooting out of the valve) the lower wire was unattached to the sensor. (Because the sensor sits on the side of the cylinder pointing towards the interior of the dryer its connections at the sensor was not visible. I bought a new flame sensor. I detached the old flame sensor from its connector, removed the screw mounting it to the cylinder and lifted it out of the tab holding it to the cylinder. I installed the new flame sensor by putting its tab in the slot for the tab in the cylinder and reattached the screw holding the flame sensor to the cylinder. I reconnected the electrical connection from the flame sensor to the dryer electrical harness. I plugged in the dryer. I turned the dryer on and got ignition of the dryer heater flame. Repair complete!
