Very easy repair, replacement part fit perfect. Removed drier door, and removed front panel. I little tight but can reach the screw holes and re-attach the baffle, used the same screws found them laying beneath the drum...May want to order new screws just in case you can't find the old ones. This is a great site used it before for drier repair...Thank you!

I ordered this part online to save myself the cost of an appliance repairman's charge for the same item. I expected to have to call a repairman anyway to install it though. With the order came a youtube video of how to do the repair and it was a piece of cake. I did the repair myself in less than 15 minutes. Can't praise the PartSelect enough for this invaluable customer service. I'm saving their website on 'my favorites' for the next time I need an appliance part.

Watch the repair video. Hardest part was getting the rear plate that held the drum rollers back on. I ended up screwing two screws from front of plate so they stuck out the back so I could line up plate and screw in two screws in the other two holes from back of dryer. As far as having dryer all apart I installed a new belt. Glad I ordered one as old belt was dried and cracked.

Disconnect power & shut off gas. Repair entry is from the front, Remove clothes access door mark & remove all visable screws, push down on the front panel held up by two spring clips at the bottom of the panel. Remove the broken belt and make sure it matches the old belt. Remove left & right clips located at top left & right corners. This will release the control center panel top lid , flip up this hinged lid and secure it. Remove a secondary front panel that the tub rotates on. You can now install the new belt, ribs down on the tub & line it up on the marks left by the old belt make sure the belt is not twisted. Reach under the tub with your lelt and right hand , with your right hand flex the idler arm pulley to the left and lace the belt around the ribed motor pulley with your left hand. Reverse these steps By replacing the front secondary panel this is what the tub rotates. Then spin it, it will be a little stiff that is o.k. just as long it not binding. Replace all panels and door. Congratulations it's done. Plug in power & turn the gas on. Also replace that old plastic vent exhaust duct with a flex aluminum duct, it could be a fire hazzard.

I bought a washer and dryer from a coworker several years ago. The set was already probably 15 years old. I used them for a few years, then ended up putting them in storage for about 4 more years. When my wife and I bought a house, the dryer came out of storage making a squeeking noise. It would go away after running for a few minutes, but those first 30 seconds sounded awful. After Goggling for Maytag dryer parts, I choose PartSelect.com for my purchase. Rather than ordering online as I usually do, I talked with a knowledgeable and friendly person via telephone. He answered my questions and the parts were ordered, with delivery in a few days.

This repair was my first with any type of dryer and I was quite apprehensive and challenged. The disassembly went smoothly due primarily to my experience with mechanical devices and the expert YouTube video for this project.
My goal was to replace the roller or rollers as the dryer had been squealing, which was annoying and potentially unsafe. The roller on the left was fine, although the roller on the right was thoroughly seized. I felt lucky to have a large Channellock to pull it off the shank. I sandpapered the shaft with 200 grit, cleaned it, and slid the new roller from PartSelect.com onto the clean shaft.

The first hitch was the lack of a very small snap-ring tool. The local hardware had a cheap model, which was too large for the size of the Maytag snap-ring. I live in Bath County, VA which is one of the larger counties with around 4000 souls. The next hardware is a 1 ½ hour drive. I decided to make this one work by filing the points to the size I required. This took an hour, however it worked. A second trip the hardware for a new snap-ring was next, having broken the old one.

The second and most frustrating part of project was rethreading the belt. Unfortunately, I had not noticed its position on the motor, pulley, or drum. My first try was logical but wrong, as it was too loose around the drum. For an hour or more, I tried and tried to thread the belt around the motor shaft, the tightener pulley and the drum. Frustration enveloped every part of my body and mind. Finally, (isn’t it true that the last try is the correct one?), I took a stab at crossing the belt to make it shorter to fit the drum. It worked. Relieved and ecstatic, I fastened the drum bracket to the dryer body with metal screws and replaced the front of the dryer. There are only two push/pull connection wires to attach the front to the body.

Disassembly and reassembly is straight-forward due to the superb engineering of Maytag engineers and excellent service provided by PartSelect.com.

Loud notise when drying. Took apart and noticed the wear plates were junk. Shipment came in within 3 days. Video on website guided us every step of the way. This was our first DIY home repair on an appliance. Very happy!

Follow instructions on the web site and made sure I took pictures of the wiring before removing.

Removed front of dryer. Removed the drum and belt. This allowed easy access to the rollers. There was very little rotation of the rollers when I tried it by hand. I also took digital pictures as i took it apart to ensure I could get it back together. I did not purchase the front glides and they needed replaced so I had to order them separately. This cost me a extra shipping fee. So order them from the start. The roller shaft assembly comes with tworoller shaft washers. So don't order them extra as I did.

Pushed in the Door Catch, and it was fixed.

Like all of us we have a lot of home projects on our plate. Our 10 year old Maytag cloth Dryer had been make noise all summer, but other project repairs where higher on the LIST. A week before the 4th of July the Dryer quit working. I should of made the repairs much sooner than I did. I had thought one or both of the Drum Rollers was sticking and making noise. It turned out one Roller had worn it's bronze bushing and the Shaft it ran on. The biggest problem was that the plastic Idler Pulley had stuck to it's Shaft and stopped turning. The Drum Multi-Rib Belt then had worn through the plastic Pulley destroying the Pulley and breaking the Belt. It was easier than I thought to get to the problems parts. I looked at videos from PartSelect.com and got some good pointers.I ordered the replacement parts from PartSelect.com and received them in 3 days! I had the Dryer back working within two hours after I received the parts and before the 4th of July. I would recommend if you do this repair, order the Multi-Rib Belt, at least one of the two Drum Support Rollers, both Roller Shaft, Idler Pulley Wheel and Bearing, and the Idler Arm with Shaft. For less than $95 I had the Dryer working like new.

As described on video, except re-installing the belt was difficult. I found it easier to reinstall the drum first, then put belt on inside the grooved part of the drum, so there is some slack. Once installed around the idler and drive shaft, slide the belt forward into final position

Removed the door, the front panel and the lint screen panel (easily done with a nut driver and a screw driver - 2 screws on the door and 8 screws for the panels). Tilted the top of the dryer open to see the drum. Turned the drum by hand and heard the same noise. Examined the felt pieces that insulate/isolate the drum from the front cover that retains and positions the drum. They were worn some, but intact. Noticed that one the the two front glide kits the the drum rides on (these are riveted to the bottom of the front panel mentioned above)was completely worn through allowing metal on metal contact. Ordered a new glide kit (about $20 including shipping - 3 days to arrive). Drilled out old rivets and removed what was left of the old glide kit. Installed new glide kit using the 2 rivets that came with the cork and 'teflon'? This took maybe 15 minutes. Reinstalled all covers and took it for a test run. No noise. Wife thinks I'm a hero!
