turned off water at valve, removed float switch, removed water inlet vlv. replaced and reassembled. still not water going into the machine. i have no voltage to the valve or float switch. i then took the door apart to find there were burnt wires as well as a burn mark on the control panel. upon closer inspection, it looks like the door seal has failed and water got into the door. had to replace dishwasher with a new one.

Our 16 year old dishwasher's top rack lost most of the coated metal 'prongs' that separated/supported items on the upper rack.

With a straight edge screwdriver I carefully removed the plastic end caps on the rack support glider-shelves, replaced the old rack with the new rack, and then reattached the end caps.

I felt better about ordering the part Online after having talked to a sales person since there were several racks from which to choose. She reassured me that I was ordering the correct part number. I am a woman and 62 years of age, and I was pretty sure this installation would be a no-brainer. I just wanted to make sure I had the right part for the job.

We ordered the replacement part for our Maytag model and when it came we saw that it was different than the original part. The original part had 8 wheels with a higher left hand side. The replacement part had only 6 wheels and no higher side. The replacement part would not pull in and out evenly and was a bit too narrower. We called Parts Select and told them our problem and they are going to refund us in full and take back the part they sent. Alas we will have to buy a new dishwasher. We would use Part Select in the future for replacement parts.

Leak in motor shaft seal

  • Customer: James from Houston TX
  • Difficulty: A Bit Difficult
  • Time to Complete: More than 2 hours
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Wrench set, Wrench(Adjustable)

We had had a slow leak on our dishwasher for some time. We were also getting a film left on the dishes and they did not appear clean. Eventually the leak got worse and I had to find the problem. It turned out that in addition to the motor shaft seal leaking, the heating element was out and the installer had done a really bad job, with leaks in the fittings and the wiring not installed properly.

I tried to get the parts locally but they were not in stock and needed a week to arrive. With family coming to visit, I ordered the parts from Parts Select on Monday and they arrived Tuesday. That afternoon, I had everything back together and it is working great.

Simply had to replace the clips in the correct position. Would have been a five minute job if I had noticed which way around the old parts went before removing them from the dishwasher to find replacements. It's amazing hoe many permutations there were before it all fit together perfectly.

The machine would no longer clean dishes.

  • Customer: Richard from Los Gatos CA

I discovered that, except for the central tower, all the spray holes were all plugged with I took to be calcium deposites . Using the parts diagram located on this web site, I removed parts. All parts can be removed either by hand, nutdriver or small wrench however you do need a star drive (simliar to an allen wrench) to remove the Pump Cover and Secondary Filter. The Lower Spray Arm unsnaps from the Pump Cover and Secondary Filter. I laboriously removed the deposits from each part down as far as the support filter. The upper spray arm can be removed by unsnapping the hub. the Pump Cover and Secondary Filter is a closed unit so. I purchased a new one. The process is very labor intensive. Next time I am going to consider purchasing all new parts or calling a repair man.
