brocken top rack

removed plastic clips, slid top rack out, unscrewed the rack adjuster, screwed in the new one... done...

Two things to look for

1) you definitely need a star shaped screw driver
2) pay attention when you take the spring adjuster out, it will be easier to put back in

The seals were deteriorated at the lower part of the door and allowed leaks. The door latch broke out twice, so replaced whole handle mechanism this time.

  • Customer: Mitchel from Camden SC
  • Difficulty: Really easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins

The repair is simple open the door and remove the perimeter screws and lift the door panel up. Be careful of attached wires. The handle only requires that you remove two electrical connectors and reconnect to the new latch handle and realign it with the screw holes in the door panel. The seals are not as easy to change they are attached with spring clips that I had to snipe through to get the old seals off. The new seals did not come with new spring clips, so I flattened the clips and reused them, they did not hold as tight, but seemed to work. Then just reinstall the panel.

  • Tools Required: Screw drivers

I know that I have very hard water, but am reluctant to get a softener. I hope that changing the "guts" of the water delivery to my dishwasher will help...already replaced the filters which helped too... so far, it's a little better.

Installation was a breeze. Took off the upper, middle and lower spray arms. Had to loosen screws in filter assembly to remove old manifold. Popped everything into place... had to scrape mineral deposits off clips that support manifold and upper spray arms.
Easy...

DOOR HANDLE BROKE

  • Customer: Christine from Cupertino CA
  • Difficulty: Really easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Screw drivers
  • 3 of 4 people found this instruction helpful
AFTER CHECKING REPAIR PLACES WHO WANTED $140-$200 TO REPAIR THE HANDLE (MOST OF IT LABOR AND TRANSPORTATION OF COURSE) I CHECKED THIS WEBSITE AND READ THE DO IT YOUR SELF TESTIMONIALS THE FIRST ONE BEING WENDY FROM FLORIDA AND FIGURED IF SHE COULD DO IT SO COULD I...WASN'T QUITE AS CONFIDENT AS HER SO FOUND A HANDY PERSON (CHARGED ME $30). IT WAS A "PIECE OF CAKE" -- REMOVE THE 11 SCREWS (ALLEN SCREWDRIVER), UNCLIP THE WIRES TO THE HANDLE (PLIERS), CLIP IN THE NEW ONE, REPLACE THE SCREWS. I COULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF. TOOK 15 MINUTES.

Broken Latch

  • Customer: Mark from Plainview NY
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins
  • Tools Required: Pliers
  • 3 of 4 people found this instruction helpful
1. Turned of Power via circuit breaker
2. Opened Dishwasher
3. Removed back of door (11) hex screws with electric driver
4. Removed latch assembly
5. Pried contacts from switches
6. One switch was more difficult to pry loose than the other
7. You will probably need a plier
8. Switch or connector may break but latch assembly comes with switches, so you just need to be careful not to break the connectors
8 Plugged connectors into new switches on latch assembly
9. Replaced latch assembly
10. Replaced door with (11) hex screws - two top screws hold assembly in place
11. Turned on circuit breaker and tested machine
12. Finished

Comments: This latch assembly was better constructed than the original and I expect it to last the life of the machine. If one of the switches wasn't so difficult to pry loose, then the repair would have taken ten minutes less to repair. Well worth the effort. Repair time was probably 20-30 minutes.

I needed a simple clip for a fold-away dishwasher rack. MAYTAG was NO HELP--except they did supply me the right part number that MAYTAG posted on websites in error. MAYTAG said they could not ship it to me--not a consumer item!! Well, I found the part at PARTSELECT.com, I had it in three days and installed it in about 10 minutes. Our clip has been broken for 2 years and it ended up being a 10 minute fix!! GREAT JOB PARTSELECT.com!!!!

The front set of convertible tines had begun to rust.

Snapped the old, rusting, tines out of the clips and snapped the new, not yet rusting, tines in. Although the kit includes both sets of tines and replacement clips, I only replaced the one part.

  • Customer: Evelyn from Napa CA

I called a local repair service company, they came out said that they couldn't repair the problem because they couldn't get the part!
I found your web site ordered the part, it came in 2 days, the same day I installed both rack adjusters in 30 minutes!
The service person was a man and I am a woman so that made me feel even better!
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Evelyn

Axle on wheel holding top rack broke

  • Customer: LuAnn from Glendora CA
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins
  • Tools Required: Screw drivers
  • 2 of 2 people found this instruction helpful
Hardest task was finding model number on my ancient dishwasher. Finally just looked at photos and picked the right one. Ordered part and it was here in 24 hours (How do they do that?!!) and it still cost less than at local appliance shop. Carefully kept old screws so I could use them on new adjuster. Part doesn't come with new screws, so watch what you do when you take old one apart. Needed a star screwdriver which I had from a previous repair when I was trying to replace just axle without buying whole new adjuster. Easy enough to do but need a third hand to hold up rack while attaching adjuster.

broken wheels on middle rack

  • Customer: Robert from Crofton MD
  • Difficulty: Difficult
  • Time to Complete: 1- 2 hours
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Screw drivers
  • 2 of 2 people found this instruction helpful
All I really needed were the 4 wheels, but had to buy the entire assembly with wheels permanently affixed ($70)! It was not compatible with my rack assembly and I had to seriously modify the existing rack and cannibelize the new assembly to make it work. It is no longer adjustable, but at least it rolls without falling down (so far).
