tank assembly cracked/leaking

Ordered a new tank assembly, but the new part also leaked because it had a hole in it. Ordered another that worked fine. Used a flat head screwdriver to remove the clips covering the screw holes to the tank assembly cover, then a phillips to remove the cover screws and the screws retaining the tank. Did not use the tubing that came with the new tank (removed it by taking out the neck clip then simultaneously pushing back on the neck piece while pulling out the hose). Used this same procedure to remove the old tank at both positions. Installed the new tank, replaced the clips, pressurized/tested the system and put the cover back on. Overall less than a 5 minute job...except for the extra week waiting for a good part.

The most time-consuming part is unloading the fridge so you can make the repair, and putting it all back in! Plus you clean everything (glass cover, etc) while it's out. The repair itself probably only took 25 minutes at most. You have to unscrew 4 screws to detach the center metal rails, then snap out the rails. Snapping them into the new cover must be done carefully so as not to break off the tabs on the plastic part you're replacing. It requires a little hand strength (I have arthritis in my hands, so my husband did this part). Then put everything back together and restock the fridge.

At first, ordered only a latch only to discover the mounting strip had instead failed. Ordering parts wasn't difficult although the parts catalog graphic leaves a lot to desire. Once I figured out how to remove the strip (had to remove the seal first and no instructions existed), it was easy to snap out the old and snap in the new part. This sure beat the cost of paying a repairman. However I fear than most homeowners that aren't mechanically inclined wouldnt have been successful because of no instructions and the parts catalog that had poor detail and a very small size.

My sis is disabled and not able to to house work, so I helped out by taking apart the LG fridge to clean it and broke a crisper drawer front. I ordered the part about 2 PM on Wenesday and the part was delivered before 11 AM. It took all of one minute to fix and boy was she happy. Thanks for being so efficent and responisve.

I actually glued the item the first time repair was needed - lasted over one year. After it broke again; ordered the part from LG on line; and three days later the part arrived and repair complete. Also, I bought an extra door should the other crisper door fail. These doors and other small white plastic parts are seemingly prone to breakage. I am not rough on my appliances, yet I have had one or two other failues of interior parts. Very happy with LG, nevertheless.
