Ice maker bin filled completely and required me to pull forceably to remove it. The cube tray assembly also came out from the front and rear attachment hole and protruding square and just hung. I then pulled down the door end and reinstalled the cube tray with cubes facing up. Turned the unit back on and in the morning frozen water was all over the bin and parts of the freezer. This morning I began to remove the frozen water, but do not know how to make it work properly. The cube tray is also frozen over with a slab of ice.

Hi Donald,
Thank you for your question. If the ice maker is continually filling with water and the bin is freezing, the issue may be with the water inlet valve. If a component inside the water inlet valve has failed, it may cause this. You will need to remove and test it with a multimeter for continuity. Using a multimeter on the Rx1 setting, test your valve by placing the probes on the valve’s terminals. You should receive a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. If you receive any other reading, you need a replacement water inlet valve. Check the ice maker as well. Inspect the fill tube and the fill cup area at the back of the icemaker to make sure that they are not frozen. If there is an ice buildup in that area, confirm no foreign objects have disrupted the flow of water into the fill cup. Inspect the outlet tubing from the fill valve to the ice maker fill tube for any signs of restrictions. If any issues are found while performing the checks above, you will may a replacement ice maker assembly. If nothing obvious has caused the ice buildup, then suspect the inlet valve or tubing. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

In my specific appliance the water valve is located in the bottom right hand corner looking at it from the back. To get to it I remove the thin layer of cardboard the covers the back of the fridge. I then proceeded to disconnect the 1/4" copper tubing which is the water feed coming out of the wall. Then I removed the screws that hold the
... Read more valve assembly in place. I took the water valve out and removed the electrical connections as well as the plastic tubing which feed the water dispenser and the ice maker. To install the new water valve it was just a matter of reversing steps.
Used pliers to remove the residual broken stud that was still attached to the wall of the refrigerator, and then just pushed the new part in place. The longest time was spent in removing the food and crisper drawers.
Even though my wife said that our icemaker broke, there was actually nothing wrong with it. It was the valve that let water flow in during the 'harvest' cycle. A real easy way to test the icemaker without voltage and current measurements, is to fill the tray by hand with a little cup of water; wait till the water freezes and see if t
