The refrigerator is making short high pitched chirping sounds. Usually in groups of 2, like a heart beat. Groups are roughly 3-5 seconds apart. Sometime chirps are single. Temp of freezer/frig usually set 0/40 will go up to 7-10/47-50 when chirping.

Hello, Thank you for your question. You will want to check the Evaporator Fan and motor. Those are typically the cause of the chirping you are hearing. The parts are- PartSelect Number: PS11738973, and PartSelect Number: PS11723174. We hope this help.

The symptom is the refrigerator chirps like a heart beat every two three seconds and the freezer to frig temp 0/40 would raise to 8 13/47 53. As directed by this site i ordered and installed an evaporating fan. I then reordered and installed another evaporating fan because the freezer/frig temp went to 0 10/53 70.The second evaporating fan holds 6/34 38 with the setting on Max and initially mostly did not chirp (the chirp is when the fan tries to start but does not). now it chirps when the thermostat control is and is not on the Max setting. have not placed a thermometer in the frig. my guess is that the frig is warm even on the Max setting. when not on Max setting the thermostat reads 13/58. so the second evaporator fan is not resolving the problem. what is my next option?

Hi Richard, Thank you for your question. The chirping sound that you are hearing is usually due to worn motor bearings in the evaporator fan motor. If the refrigerator is too warm, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the bi-metal defrost thermostat and the condenser fan motor. You will need to test the parts with a multi-meter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may use as a general reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. For more information on how to test these parts, click on the Appliance Repair link on our website and on the next page that comes up click on the refrigerator icon. When the next page comes up, you will be provided with a symptoms list. Choose the "Fridge and Freezer are too warm" symptom and the information will come up for you. There are some additional parts listed here that you may check as well if the other parts listed above test fine. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

Ice maker stopped functioning
Remove the icemaker service door... gently pry the door pins from the hinge sockets. Remove the 3 screws from the under side of the icemaker with a nut driver (1/4"). Gently remove the icemaker . It's a tight fit between the top of the compartment and the icemaker lower support tray. Next, disconnect the electrical connector at the right side. You're done! Reverse procedure for installing. Good luck. Remember, your working with cold plastic...take your time and don't force too much.
