Sparker would not quit sparking after lighting the gas.
Turned off the gas then disconnected the gas line. Unplugged the AC cord and removed the unit from the counter top. Had to locate a suitable area to lay the cooktop, rather large. The bottom cover is held on by 6-8 sheet metal screws, however, the gas regulator and nipple must be removed also for the cover to come off. I removed the Igniter module screws, leaving the wires connected and mounted the new module in it's place. I then removed one wire at a time from the old and put it on the new part. Replaced the back cover and reinstalled the gas regulator with fresh pipe sealant. Probably took an hour including cleaning the top and counter top.

spark module failure, wouldn't spark.
The repair was fairly straightforward, much easier the second time around. The first part was defective. (irregular spark). I reordered and installed the new one. It works, but nowhere near as good as the original. The problem is that the frequency of the spark on these replacement modules is only once per second. To get technical, the gas as presented to the spark is turbulent, causing several sparks to occur before the ideal mixture coincides with the spark. Needless to say, there is an excess of gas wafting around the kitchen until it lights, sometimes in excess of 20 seconds. NOT SAFE! Our BBQ and fireplace insert spark orders of magnitude faster than this.

all but one of the four knobs were broken.
My folks were swtitching one knob around to controll all the burners. The repairman said the cooktop had been long retired and the only option was buying a new one. It's a great cooktop, though and it was a shame to ditch it for just because of knobs. Alas, right before we about to buy a new one, I discovered you guys. Halleluiah.
